This is great, but it was only the power armor use that was anoying me, the weapon NPC use was good imo :(

Thanks! I'm tired of settlers stealing power armor and shooting at invaders with Fat Man.

Can we have a version where they do search for weapons but NOT power armors?
    Thanks in advance

I noticed the Abernathys had picked up (and equipped) more powerful weapons from dead raiders they had fought with. Is that possibly a load order issue?

Edit: It's possible I didn't have this mod installed when I encountered this - oops!

This is awesome! Drove me crazy that I'd give settlers specific weapons and they'd just steal different weapons from wherever. Containers, bodies, anywhere they found them. Finally started hiding all my weapons in player homes where no settlers could touch them.

In theory this would also fix the Tribute Chest from Nuka World. I used to set those up in my settlements but then I could never go there during combat. The moment an NPC tried to take a weapon from it the whole game would crash. Maybe now with this I can set those up again.

Yes, it disables AI auto search completely so Tribute Chests are safe to be placed in settlements as well.

Vanilla mannequins (whatever their actual name is - they're in the decorations part of the workshop menu) will safely store anything you put into them. NPCs cannot interact with them at all.

Is this working on next gen update?

So this means Piper won't be a dope by picking up useless pipe pistols off of dead raiders because I gave her a freaking Gatling Laser with tons of Fusion Cores? XD Cool.

Finally a solution to prevent (custom companions) like Jawbone and Bravo6 from entering the power armors because they don't have commands to get them out afterwards. And Madison (child companion) who turns into a giant doll when she enters there too.

I can't wait to try this!

    Thanks a lot!

I want all my guard settlers wearing power armor. Can you make them never get out the PA without player's command?

Possibly, yes. The problem would be that NPCs that wear a Power Armor can't use settlement objects so most of the time they'd stand in one place in the settlement. They'll need a new "patrolling in Power Armor" AI.

Thank you. My problem is they always get out of the PA when they're going to use some furniture while sandboxing.

Unfortunately the only solution I can think of is overriding Power Armored settlers' AI with a custom one. The problem is that this approach can make a mod very vulnerable to mod conflicts because other mods may rely on the vanilla AI (especially on its priority in the AI stack).

SKK has a mod for this.
SKK Combat Settlers, turn it on, set what settings you'd like, including the power armor never breaking, so you don't have to micro manage your PA people.. Then use something like dynamic guard mats, with weapon drawn and presto, you got power armored guards waltzing around your settlements.. Also a command menu like "quick trade" - But can be turned on and off so only have it when you need to command a settler into PA.

I usually put my provisioners in PA only, as I'm using the better PA redux, and having a bunch of PA guards in unbreakable PA, makes my settlements unbeatable. (=Boring.)

Hope you can use this.. Of course if Larann works some magic, that would be cool to, but this works as well.

I'm currently using this. But the guards often take off their PA while sandboxing or just stand their. It's a problem of vanilla AI.

Okay so theoretically.... If I wanted to create my own mod based on the quests that can be added or exist for npc search tactics, how did you find these codes? If you could point me in the right direction or just let me know if I just need to not be lazy and look till I locate it, please let me know!

You would need to examine the .exe or find a list of the hardcoded game settings that are not in Fallout4.esm. This was written for Skyrim but many settings from Fallout 4 can also be found there (they don't necessarily have the same values though).
