Hey fadingsignal, many of us are still hoping you will circle back around to that police vest you shared a screenshot of. It's probably the best looking police vest I've seen for this game.
The archive has the file "fadingsignal no more fingerguns.txt" so I opened it to read the information, and found it's a 0-byte file. That's weird, was it left behind by mistake, or is there some other reason for the file to be there?
It's commented at that mod, guards with weapons drawn have clipping and trouble using vanilla raised guard posts. This is prob why they don't have guns drawn - and it isn't logical anyway, guards don't stand all day with weapons drawn, their arms would soon tire.
As for the finger-gun, fadingsignal's prob right. Maybe originally guards held pistols - I've read the 10mm pistol (along with a laser rifle) were the earliest weapons made for FO4. And surely anything bigger than a pistol would clip horribly in that pose. But a finger-gun, though odd-looking, is quite a comfortable hand position - more comfortable than a clenched fist or a straightened hand. Ideally you just want to curl the index finger slightly, to look relaxed and less pointy, but aye full-fist looks better than full finger-gun.
I humbly submit that my mod does have guards idling with equipped weapons shown. It only works with my guard posts though. Nothing else in the game is changed, so it would probably work fine alongside this mod (but I haven't tested that). It's my first published mod, but no one has reported any issues yet. Random bonus for this mod. The shower in CWSS Redux uses the guard animation as one of the random bathing animations. Now you no longer look ready to take on a synth invasion while buck and washing your junk.
