Here's a thought. Could it be done as a standalone device, in conjunction with the workbenches? The idea would be that the standard fusion cores can be remanufactured into Arc Cores, but it's somewhat more expensive. Say, two or three cores to make a single Arc core. Ideally it would be totally awesome if it were possible to refuel the Arc core with new material, since it's basically how it's done in the movies. I know that will probably take the creation kit, but having the ability to have Arc cores standalone at the same time as fusion cores would go a long way to making that happen.

that sounds like an EPIC idea but i'm currently in my last year of VCE and have not had much time to mod (this mod was created on a holiday) i would love to learn how to do this in my spare time though

Or... Arc cores could be a rare, in-world item (only one exists) with an OPTIONAL crafting recipe, and it's really difficult to get, but functions differently from Fusion Cores in that it regenerates power? It could be balanced so that when using an Arc Core, walking and running don't cost any power, but other actions (fighting, sprinting, using a jet pack, VATS) reduce the power meter at an increased rate to a fusion core (IE, it will run out faster, like Iron Man's armor with it's limited power supply.) It will recharge after several minutes of inactivity after combat if the core wasn't completely drained (it should, for balance, recharge at a rate of 25% power per minute out of combat and 10% in combat). If, however, it IS completely drained, the Arc Core shuts down, the suit goes into the "no fusion core" state, and stays there until the fusion core recharges to 15% power, at which it drops down to 5% and the suit restarts, then the charging process begins as normal. It seems like a very good way to create an "infinite" power source that has some downsides, as while a standard fusion core would just tick over to the next one when power is lost, the Arc Core leaves your suit powerless for about 45 seconds out of combat and a few minutes in combat, forcing you to leave the suit behind, or fight carefully.
And who knows? You could even make a sarcastic British butler constantly tell you how much power you have left in battle.

Ok... for those of you that the fusion core is not showing in game:

The path in the download file is wrong. That's why it doesn't show in game.

Make sure you copy the Material, Meshes & textures in the right folder.

the correct path is as follow:

    Data/Materials/Props/FusionCore
    FusionCore01.BGSM

    Data/Meshes/Props/FusionCore
    FusionCore01.nif
    FusionCoreProjectile.nif

    Textures/Props/FusionCore
    FusionCore01_d.dds
    FusionCore01_g.dds
    FusionCore01_n.DDS
    FusionCore01_s.DDS

The author should correct this as soon as possible i should say. Capital letters are there for a reason

it seems other people are having issues replacing textures as well, i've yet to encounter this issue but it sounds extremely frustrating, there is an open topic here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3389250-textures-replacer-not-working/ Hopefully one of the answers helps you there.

Looks really good, great concept. Shame cores don't load into the front, that would complete it.

Maybe when the GECK comes out, then remodeled Power armor will be possible and will probably allow that to be done
