About this mod

Allow the Player to take cover behind Companions with Shields or Power Armor

Requirements
Permissions and credits
The Player can now take cover behind companions more suited to tank incoming fire.

Can't shoot while holding your shield ? Have your companion do it:

Instructions for normal companions:
  • Craft Bond Ring at Chem Station under Utility.
  • Equip companion with Bond Ring.
  • Press the TAKE COVER prompt when looking at the companion.
  • Alternatively assign Hotkey in MCM.
  • Press Hotkey to TAKE COVER.

Instructions for Power Armor companions:
  • Craft Misc mod for Power Armor Torso at Power Armor Station.
  • Equip companion with said Torso.
  • Same as above.

Speed and Animation Mutiplier Slow:
  • NPCs have different speeds depending on weapon types, whether they are walking or crouching etc.
  • Adjust the MCM sliders to slow NPCs down to the appropriate playstyle.
  • I reccomend setting the Power Armor Speed Slow to 20.

Notes:
  • The mod works by fowarding the Player control to the NPC. The NPC will mirror anything the Player does.
  • The speed of the Player and NPC will be different I reccomend only using the effect when walking or crouching.
  • The NPC will still try to attack when able to. Enemies standing in melee range or within the NPC's cone of fire.
  • The effect will automatically break when the Player is far enough from the NPC or the NPC has been downed.
  • Mod added companions or any NPCs that can be made to wear the ring are compatible.
  • Mod added Power Armor could work but can be janky. Tell the companion to get out and in of the Power Armor should fix it.
  • Companions with special effects when using Power Armor could be janky as well.
  • I'm working on the esl version, the mod can be place anywhere in the load order.

Special Notes:
  • The NPC can be quite unruly so using Hotkey to move them the correct position is reccomended.
