Version 1.9 Does the following: The Prewar Double Bed now counts towards overall bed count. You can now assign a settler to the bed as well.
Prewar drinking and shot glasses, Eyeglasses and sunglasses, rolled newspapers... closet shelves to snap into closets. Speaking of snapping, I do hope furnishings support items atop them and things like the radios and aid kits snap onto the walls...
I can try and figure out how to make those be able to snap to the walls and add the sunglasses soon. There is a rolled newspaper and a flat one as well I added, not sure if there are other ones. There is also the drinking and shot glasses. I can see if there are others I forgot here shortly.
And yes I do believe I added the right keywords to make it so you can place things on tables etc, let me know if any don't seem to work and I can check on them.
The only other newspaper I'm aware of is the Late Edition paper, the stories for that are actually readable on the computers at the Boston Bugle offices in Boston (naturally), near Vault-Tec Regional Offices.
I'm only doing prewar items in this mod, and none of the weapons have a prewar texture. I don't know what you mean by decorations, you mean like paintings?
Street lamps!!! The tall ones, not the Sanctuary ones. I haven't been able to find pre-war ones anywhere. I believe there's two of them - one with a rounded top and one that's more square.
Also, prewar train cars and automatron doors (iris, garage) would be amazing.
I know it's been over a year but I'm starting to work on this mod again. Just added Institute vases. I looked and looked in the CK for the lamps you are talking about but I just can not find what you are describing. If you could provide the Base ID of the lamp and or the name they are called I could hopefully add them.
Hey, great mod! I'd like to ask two quick questions: Why is the dishwasher like this in my game? No top part? 2 question: can you make it so that the stove on this counter thing is actually usable? Thanks in advance!
The hole is where you put the pre-war sink that is also added in the mod. If you are using the place anywhere mod you should be able to place the sink no problems, and you should also be able to place the separate pre-war stove I added on top of that stove so it will function the same. I might make that stove usable in the future but it will require some custom mesh edits as that's all one single item in the game files so no promises but I'll look into it and if I do add that I'll let you know here. It's been ages since I used NifSkope so I'll have to refresh myself on all the editing I would need to do. Also, that empty spot on the left is where the fridge is placed. Glad you enjoy the mod, and if there are any other questions or things you would like added I'm more than happy to listen, thanks!
Hey, thank you very you much for your response! I am using place everywhere, still its a bit hard to get things properly set up. Not your fault tho! Everything else works great. I have only two more questions: Why the Stereo doesn't play any songs? Have you got any plans to add the pre-war fridge with the Vault-Tec calendar that you have at your own home at the start of the game? Last questions, swear :)
The stereo doesn't play anything because the version that is in the pre-war beginning game sequence uses an activator instead of a static version. I added the static version because adding the activator version would have taken more time in order to make sure it doesn't break anything / say the beginning game lines over again. I'll possibly look into adding a music playing version later, maybe one that can play different holotapes, but that would likely come in the form of a different mod entirely as I would need to do some custom scripting etc. If you don't know what I mean by activator version and static, basically one version (activator) in the game files is clickable, and can advance quests, play sounds, etc, and the other (static) is treated like a rock, a static item that can't be interacted with, but has full collision mesh (can't be walked through, acts as a solid object).
The prewar fridge is added in the form of a usable storage fridge, but the static version with the calendar, nuka colas, etc, are all different items, the calendar I plan on adding here shortly in the next update. I didn't really see a purpose in adding a static fridge version as you could do the same thing with the storage version. I.E using place anywhere you could place nuka colas, or milk, or any number of "fridge items" in a way that they look to be placed on shelves. I might add the other version also with a door but not sure yet.
And feel free to ask as many questions as you want, always happy to answer any, and more than happy to take suggestions on items to add if you find any others that I missed.
It was a simple update this time but I'm getting back into modding again so will see about potentially adding some more items here soon. SMM isn't of any use with this mod no. It won't hurt having it but I didn't add support for it.
I am only adding items to this mod that are prewar, or have a very clean prewar looking texture to them sorry. I might make a mod in the future that adds those random objects that no other workshop mod seems to add.
I'd really like that! I've been trying to find a mod that enables a lot of pre-existing post-war settlement items that are already in the vanilla game files to be built, stored and moved. (like the ones mentioned, but also even just individual pieces of plywood, planks, etc.) As of now, we just can't build them. If they are within settlement borders, sometimes they can't even be scrapped without mods like Scrap Everything.
So far I've only found ones that might do it for a few objects, but only as side-content, so to speak. There's also a Bethesda.com mod, USO, but mods downloaded from the in-game menu seem to be problematic alongside ones in mod managers. Since precombines would need to be broken for this, it would be really helpful to include a patch that regenerates precombines, especially in areas outside workbench borders. (looking at you, Downtown Boston...😁)
I noticed that OCDecorator includes some of the same items you have. And is this compatible with the Workshop Framework? It was last updated in March 2024. Its goal is to make modding easier for other developers, including streamlining workshop menus, expanding settlement management for players etc. OCD is older (last updated 2018) but it works fine with vanilla items (as intended), even though I currently have 93 mods active.
Yes this mod is still fully compatible with those mods. In fact I was actively using both those mods during this mods development and still play with them and this mod together.
For some reason this mod crashes my game either in main menu or while loading the game in. There isn't a list on this page what other mods could conflict with this mod. Right now I'm checking all mods that crash my game which then I leave a comment on the author's comments if available to let them know. Right now I'm enabling mods one or 5 time at a time and this mod I only enabled it first and none other after I tested other mods that did pass the test. I did give this mod two chances first it crashed when main menu fully loaded in then I disabled and reenabled and hit deploy than it crashed while the game was still loading from the black screen.
Let me know if you ever find the conflict. Considering you're the first person to mention this mod is causing any problems I can only presume it isn't my mod causing the issues. This is a real simple mod as it is. All this mod does is it takes already existing items in the game and adds them to the workshop, most with just a simple duplicate and add, others with texture swaps. The only remotely complex thing about this mod is the scripted workshop menus, but those are specifically designed to never conflict with any other mods using the same scripts. The only thing I can think that could ever cause an issue would be if someone somehow used the same naming scheme as me in the workshop, and that would be nearly impossible. I make extra sure to use complex unique names to avoid conflicts with all of my mods and others mods respectively. The only other thing I could think is if you still have leftover textures in your folders even when you disable mods, but even if that was the case I don't believe that could cause a crash, and the game would either apply a blank texture, pick the newest of the two textures and apply it, or most likely just cancel each other out and revert to the default texture. Again please let me know if you ever find anything out, thanks!
This mod looks spectacular, but unfortunately I already have a bunch of mods that contain many of these items. Is there any way you'd consider releasing a stand alone mod with just desk picture frames?
It's unbelievably annoying to have to search the Commonwealth for desktop pictures and console command it to one of your houses. Then whenever you go back there, there's a chance it'll fall through your floor and into the void because it's not a static item.
Wow, I just went searching and I'm shocked a standalone like that does not exist when it should be rather simple to make. I will look into making this is the near future. I'll reply to you here when it is up.
Thank you for replying so quickly. I'm delighted to hear it, I was all ready for you saying you no longer modded Fallout 4 or you had no plans to do anything like that as so many modders do. I'll keep an eager eye out for your reply, thanks again.
Just released a new version of the Desktop Picture Frames mod that fixes the placement issues. Thanks to the user tenhats who was kind enough to supply me with a fixed mesh file for the desktop frames themselves.
Thanks, glad you like it. About an ESL version, I have no clue how to even do that. I think it's something you do in xEdit is all I know. You could always try yourself and see if it works if you would like.
Considering that Ruddy88 ESLify doesn't auto flag it as light, I'm thinking that it would take reworking the mod in order to comply so that it could be marked as light. However, there are times where some things are unable to be marked as light or as an ESL. I have to admit that my brain doesn't understand what those reasons are, even after having them explained to me.
There are some really nice posters in Nuka World's space exhibits that I haven't seen anywhere else. If it isn't too much trouble, I would like to see those.
Like I need another hole in my head, I would need this mod. I have way too many mods that add so many buildable items that it's killing my workshop speed so bad.
I'm going to go drill that hole in my head, as I can actually really benefit from this mod. The time I spend looking through various menus for that one insignificant prewar item really eats up my time. I've added a lot of mods, some just for a few items, for the prewar items. I'd love a full list of the items that you've added. If you have a list of things you are going to add, I'd also love to see that as well, so that I can eagerly await the new little goodies. I like to use a lot of prewar items to kind of display them, like bragging rights, but also use them as functional items that are proudly used and not just behind glass.
Is there any plans for taking postwar items that don't have prewar equivalents for completing some of the sets of items in the game? I'm going to guess that new texture/mesh happy fun time isn't something you want to get into. If you don't want to, I seriously understand. I can barely figure that stuff out. Texture swaps, isn't too much of a strain on the brainpan, but it's monotonous and annoying, at least to me. So, after all that I've said, I'm really grateful for you doing this.
Elianora has a video explaining how to remove items from crafting mods. It'll help with the mods that add some of the same items, or items that you just don't like.
If it involves making new textures/meshes then probably not. I can and have edited meshes. Like removing part of a mesh, but never added or made new. If you have any specific things you wanted added I could look into it but no guarantees.
Also, if you don't already use it then use this mod, it speeds up your workshop and makes it so much faster. Ever since I downloaded it my workshop went from taking 10-15 seconds to open down to 0-1 seconds.
I use Buffout's Faster Workshop option. I know it's working because when I disable it I can go out for lunch and be back before it loads (slight exaggeration).
Thanks for the list in the Docs tab. Might want to mention it in the Descriptions tab so that others can be clued in on it.
You could always try the mod version and see if it works better than the Buffout one. There are plenty of people who commented that said the mod one was faster for them than Buffout one. I will go and update the description now to let people know of the doc tab thanks.

Will there be any chance at all to add an ESL or Light version or is that not possible? Cheers
I have no idea how to use ExEdit either which is why I'm asking, no worries, thanks anyway.
