I have made a redux of this mod - While this mod is still usable, I highly recommend you switch to the newer version as it has higher texture fidelity, improved geometry, generally better weapon design and includes different receiver variants based on the upgrades you make.
The real life BAR has the charging handle on the left side. Even the NV BAR is like this. So this is a completely realistic and lore accurate representation of the weapon. Besides, what are you even doing here, you should check out my other mod which is a Redux of this one
It's not left handed though? It's right handed. The charging handle is on the left side of the weapon, which makes it more convenient for right-handed shooters, and the ejection port is on the right side of the weapon.
Not that vanilla damage is viable for Unleveled World and Encounter Zone Recalculation etc at level +200 without damage modifiers. But this is one of few Fixes/Remeshes that doesn't look like s#*! i.e this looks really neat.
Just so anyone is aware, this remesh does not work with dPillari's retextures or Scratchmade weapon retexture. It makes weird lines around the ejection port and by the magazine. It works fine with SavrenX and Luxor though.
Could you provide screenshots? I've used the suppressor as the main texture when making the receiver model and I unwrapped it to be more fitting. If it has weird edges, I'd like to see so I may fix it when I eventually release a reduxed version of this. Thanks
Okay, I just uploaded a 1st and 3rd person picture using dPillari and Scatch weapons. I also show Luxor, which looks the same as SavrenX and Vanilla. Also dPillari has part of the words on the stock warped around the wood handle.
Okay yea I think I can work with this, I'll make some fix for it at some point when I'm not so busy, let's say in the next three to four weeks. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.
Big fan of this replacer, and it might even be my favorite one so far. Its kind of tricky finding weapon mods that at least try to make themselves fit into the game they are being put in, so finding a proper Fallout BAR made my day. I do have some questions though if you are ever going to update this mod. 1. Could we see a West Tek Optics patch? Its funny that they choose to fuse into the receiver over the actual rail system, but its still not ideal. 2. Could you make the default iron sights the ring iron sights? And then you if need a replacement for the rings, what about using a rangefinder?
Heyo, glad you like it. Funny enough, it's my most popular at the moment despite being such a simple lil change to a single model. I won't be updating this any further as I've started making a sorta redux. It won't be a remesh but rather a bunch of different receivers that will regularly spawn on the non-upgraded combat rifle alongside the vanilla receiver. The new BAR receiver will be modeled slightly differently to the current one to accomodate the issues such as the bump obscuring sights, custom sights (West-Tek) clipping or the ejection port not opening when firing.
So to answer your questions: 1. I won't be making a patch but will instead make a new mod that fixes those issues on it's own. The model may look less like the original BAR but will still look better than the combat rifle receiver 2. Nah I won't be changing anything in the weapon record as to not cause any compatibility issues. I may add some extra attachments to accomodate the newly made receivers but nothing too special.
Understandable, and looking forward to it. And that point you were making, I think a lot of people like the more simple mods that improve what already was there. I think because Fallout 4 in many places has "undercooked" ideas and designs, a lot of people are looking for someone to finish a feature rather than something completely new. Plenty of weapon mods feel very out of touch with the rest of the game, whether it be models, functionality, or even direct gameplay balance. Nothing wrong with these mods, but a lot of people are looking to improve their fallout 4 gameplay, rather than replace it.
Thank you! Been wanting to make the combat rifle to aesthetically be more like the automatic rifle from FNV. Due to vanilla positioning, scopes- especially those added from Dak's West-Tek Optics Pack- are placed more forward on the rifle and over the hump rather than on its nicely added rail, but tis a small issue
I am making a redux of this mod, nothing to special but it should fix some of the issues from this version. I'm also making ssome other receiver alternatives like a m14 or a more dedicated ppsh one, tho I'm not yet sure if it'll be some sort of mesh replacer, attachment pack or just separate weapons
I wish it was a failure, I really wish they didn't just obviously decide "lets just take the combat shotgun and make it a pistol caliber rifle", because a failed BAR would of looked better than what we got.
So I know that it is possible to use this mod without the .308 rechamber, but I don't exactly know how I would do that, I don't really know how to modify mods.
Ok so two things: - I can't, the iron sights are vanilla and so is the ADS height to keep compatibility as high as possible. Making the hump smaller would make it look less like a BAR and less interesting too - I am currently making a sorta remake that expands on the idea of combat rifle replacers. The idea is to create variants of the receiver, each representing it's own gun. Not sure how to implement it yet but I will finish it eventually.
