Sadly, I cant get this weapon to spawn in my level list. I am using the non-munitions' version (overwriting the main file). The weapon exists in the game, as in I can find it with console commands but Synths would not spawn with them.
For me, it really is a shame that you use energy cells for your plasma weapons. They look truly awesome, and I take my hat of for your talent. Would love to use them. But one cannot manifest plasma out of a battery.. It's like trying to reload a revolver with flamer fuel, that's just not how it works.
Lasers are generated through battery's, focusing the beam through optical lenses.. Plasma however is a liquid with an energy charge, so unless your cracking open the battery and firing the battery acid, it wouldn't work. (Fusion batteries containing heavy water and not even acid.)
Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say, that you "must" change them to use plasma cartridges, there is such a thing as creative freedom and these are your creations, if you say your weapons use energy cells and the plasma magically comes out the other end, and people enjoy that, theres nothing wrong with that, and I will never again make a rant like this on any of your mods.. I just felt a pressing need to point out, that that's not actually possible, or wouldn't actually be possible, in a world where plasma weaponry was a real thing and not just theoretical.
(Not gonna go into how plasma is actually a zero G space concept as no plasma weapon ever explains how they acutally propel the liquid out of the gun in the first place.)
Either way, with that rant over I thank you for the time you spend on your weapon mods, I'm deffinetly gonna use some of the laser based ones to spice up my institute a bit, instead of everyone just using the same platform. (I mean, they litteraly have a department dedicated to developing weapons, you see that scientist test firing a rifle when you first enter advanced systems lab, but they only have that one platform that they've been using forever, so what is she actually testing? )
I think you're trying to apply waaay too much thought here. The idea I see is that Institute energy weapons would be standardised, and use a small number of ammo types. Requiring a bespoke ammunition is costly and not the sort of thing the Institute would be happy with.
Plus, you *could* manifest plasma from a battery. With sufficient energy being provided, the weapon need only strip the molecules in the air of electrons, and you have a blob of plasma right there. It's not some crazy-exotic material, you just need a lot of charged particles in some combination.
As I indicated, you and everyone else and the creator are of course free to imagine any way you want, that energy cells = plasma charge.. What I wrote, was simply why I can't accept it for my own personal game, nothing more and nothing less.
Small note about your point of cost efficiency however.. You do know, in this games lore the plasma weaponry was invented during the ressource war right? If it was possible, to save some dollars on it, by using the standardized fusion cells to create plasma, I would imagine they would have done so.. The institute however, is flooding the commonwealth with synths and using a matter to energy transporter to send said synths around.. They don't much care about cost, as they don't have a cost to worry about, beeing all inhouse and not buying materials or anything else from anyone.
In the end though, it's just a game, and what works for you, works for you, i wrote what I wanted to write, doesn't need to be a long debate over fictional facts.
Oh don't mistake me, I wasn't trying to question your headcanon or lore or whatever, was just trying to help and say it probably could fit in for you without being immersion-breaking, as a battery-powered plasma weapon is a scientifically sound concept. I don't think lore-wise it would be difficult to justify.
Plasma would more then likely need to be contained in a strong magnetic field since its in a super heated state, seems more logical to have some method to create it inside the weapon at the time of firing and safer in the long run, plus f03/nv used energy cells etc.
If you are talking about me, I played all the fallout games, and yeah I know quite a bit about how fallout ammo works, how real world ammo works and how theoretical ammo works. But you just had to make a comment huh?

Any chance at ballistic-hybrid institute shotgun? to go along with the ballistic pistol, rifle, and sniper you've already made.
