just same here to say that I've noticed in my saves, every time I have a basketball-related CTD, its because I picked up a basketball and the game for whatever reason spawned 3 of them in the same space. could it be that fo4 is trying to spawn a lot more than just 3 after I interact with it and that that many world objects is overloading the engine?
Was basketball overproduced? This is the first time I've heard of such a story. However, there are apparently locations where objects respawn at an unusual rate, so I don't think it's impossible.
@seki5656 CTDs on both attempts to fast travel to a certain location, installed this and it worked like a charm, thank you so much! Translation in your tongue below, courtesy of google translate: CTDは両方の試みで特定の場所に迅速に移動しようとする試みを試み、これをインストールし、魅力のように機能しました。ありがとうございました!
Oddly enough, one of the first crashes I experienced on my playthorugh I was playing basketball on the court in Lexington. After that, I was leery of even going near the basketball courts. Then my suspicions were confirmed when I finally figured out how to read the crash log auto scans, and saw "basketball" in like 6 out of my 9 total crashes. Gonna have to try this out if the issue persists
I thought it was a superstition to say that basketball would destroy the world, but now that there are people who have had the same experience, it starts to ring true...
there surely must be something else going on here, like something that effects havok in its core or some mod that change something that the basketball does'nt agree with. I never had any trouble with any loose item in game. does people here got any mod that's incommon to this issue? like real physics or anything?
What comes to mind when you say that is to remove the upper limit of FPS with High FPS Physics Fix. I used to set the FPS cap to 80 until now. However, I've heard that not setting the FPS cap to 60 is likely to cause problems, so I'm thinking of setting it that way in my next game. Then basketball might never cause problems. For now, I'm going to turn off the basketball as a precaution.
Damn, never knew i would need this kinda of mod, not until i saw "basketball" in my crash log way too damn often. Always though it was something else, guess you learn new things everyday. thanks for the mod!
I absolutely fucking love you. I was so sad to see the buffout log saying a basketball was causing a crash in the same spot, over and over. It really is amazing how bethesda released this, and how modders like yourself make it playable. Thank you so much. Just loaded my last save with your mod, and flawless.
LOL! I thought this was only happening to me! I found out a long time ago that Basketballs were the source of my random CTDs, too. I didn't disable basketballs, though. I just replaced their world model with Kickballs. Haven't had one of those crashes ever since.
Is this simple to do and if so would you mind explaining how? I didn't realise it was an issue, but I'd like to do this if possible. I don't want to remove basketballs from the game completely, who doesn't like to stop for a quick trick shot every now and then?
Hey, yeah it's as simple as copying and pasting in FO4Edit. Here. I made a really, really terrible video showing how to do this just for you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5vgnSCHh6Y
English is not my native language, so I could only hear bits and pieces, but I fully understood what you did. What a terrible person to change the very concept of basketball (laughs)
Curious. I mean hell, why not, an idea is an idea! Anything is possible with these Bethesda engines lol. I am curious to see whether it's more directly a havok based issue with many objects in the game world. Looking at you flying cars...but yeah, I am open to anything that can help.
Well y'know, since it's Beth anything can happens lol. There's even a mod that removes weapon debris because it can cause a random CTD too. We all know CTD is the scariest, creepiest and the most dangerous enemy (in all games not only Beth's), but cars? Beth let us blame them again XD.
probably not basketball (for other people, yours was surely the basketball :3) but they are useless assets so why not remove some baggage?
i cant reasonably assume what kind of modding would clash with a random simple havok object... but i have had similar problems with the cloth/skeleton/jiggle physics clashing on a custom outfit (before i learned how to make good ones).
The crash log also mentions skeletons and meshes, but I don't have the skills to edit them. I am aware that basketball is unlikely to be the culprit. Well, I'm also aiming for the placebo effect.

For me this mod is a good one! :D

The mayor of Boston becomes a kickball fanatic...

But I've never seen basketball go wild, so I thought it was possible.
