I can't believe this didn't exist before 2023 ... Awesome! Btw, any chance you could make this work on robot lasers? I don't mean the laser from the assaultron head, but the robot laser weapons in general, or at least the gattling laser they use.
As for the muzzle flash issue, since the barrels are still spinning, is there a way to not have a continuous beam, but rather a rapidly flashing beam? For example, the fire duration could be something like 0.1 seconds and the interval between shots something like 0.05 seconds, or any numbers that end up working well in game. Alternatively, since 5 seconds is already a rather long firing time, after 5 seconds there's a 0.25 second pause?
I think the only thing holding this back is the fact it doesn't produce a bright red glow, makes it look quite underwhelming compared to the actual thing.
This mod's awesome, it manages to do what that Automatron DLC Salvaged Assaultron Head did not succeed in (long charge continious beam instead of laser musket pistol), while adding to realism and having an explanation why this is true: focuser combines short quick pulses into a single beam.
The only thing I want to point at is that charging barrels mod breaks everything - the fire rate stays the same, but the damage goes up significantly, breaking the concept of charging barrels - going from insane ROF laser minigun to some sort of laser M2 Browning (although vanilla becomes too slow to match that idea).
My only ideas about this were giving it shorter pulses (delay betwen assaultron-style continious beam) or making the beam weak as the barrels block rotate after firing one barrel until the next barrel fires. But IDK if that are good ideas.
P.S. Forgot to mention, it also lowers ammo cost significantly)))
