Technical Notes: - Please keep an eye on non-responding NPCs, it may have something to-do with the script stages beeing changed (In case you have the very rare issue check here: Jewel_of_the_Commonwealth#Quest_stages) > This should be fixed as of version 003
Once I have used this and have moved on through, I know the gate stays open, now with Piper as my Com with Ivy can I just uncheck this from my load ? Or does this have to stay in to make the World go round.
I was outside Diamond City, with the scene with Piper. This mod seemed to only apply to newly created game, not an old existing save. Cause I installed the mod, and I still have to go through all that shenanigans.
EDIT: Nvm...It works, even with reloading an old save. I reload an old save to test it.
When i was doing it i hadnt had the time to test it in depth. The quest stages might not always work based on progress. But thats just guessing, when i have the time i will play around with it further.
You can fire up quest stages much more complex, not only to the Piper gate scene, every quest, in theory. The game has trigger(boxes) everywhere. You can force the game to jump certain quest stages. Similar to what is possible via console command. Once player char hits a certain trigger box.
It should not be dependend on game progress. Unfortunately, i lack experience to say that is to 100% true. So keep your eyes out for issues, but know, the more mods run, the harder it is to order.
I never could stand how Bethesda made some events just not happen until the player arrives to see it. What would be neat is if the Piper scene would happen only after a set amount of time had progressed from the start of the game, and you had to be be there at a specific date and time to see her there at all. Otherwise, your first introduction to her would be if you talked to Nat or entered her office.
That would be awesome. I think that is even possible for some skilled coders. Technically speaking all you need to do is to play around with the trigger boxes. You could so much with the engine ... :)
Think about not helping Preston in a specific time window will cause him and his gang to die. ...
Omg, I was hoping one day , someone would do this, I personally can't stand piper, and don't feel I should be just another article to sell her dam paper, or be judged by a bunch bigots and what nots.. And so far this, just that much closer to that , Thank you tracking and kudo'd
Aye it's cheesy, but one of my fave scenes! Of course, I agree if you're modding an alt-start or turning FO4 into a completely different game you may have to change it. But otherwise surely it's a much needed plot mechanism to gain initial entry. Why else would this understandably paranoid, embattled city just let you walk in completely free and unchallenged?? It's also there to introduce you to Piper & the Mayor, explain why the city is so paranoid (abductions & killings) and thus link to and provide pointers for the main quest.

Theres an almost very similar mod that comes a little close to doing just that xD
