Didnt test it yet, i'm at work right now. But boy i gotta tell ya, if this really works you did exactly what i've looked for since first time i turned on the radio ! That was a great idea thank you very much my friend !
it always bothered me that those tracks lack that classic crispy sounds you get when you play old venyls
well unfortunatley it seems like it doesnt do anything at all, i just cant hear any difference. or at least i'm not able to make it work.
I simply moved the folder into fallout 4/data/ where you can also find the folders "strings" and "video" and added the given line to my fallout4.ini under [archive] and saved it as read only... any ideas ? :/
just to be sure - your mod changes the sound of the pipboy radio station (diamond radio) right ? we're not talking about any kind of jukebox or stationed radio you can find in the world ?
Ok scratch that, I did it. Like I said, it was my fault.
For anyone who might be dealing with the same problem I'll just leave the solution here.
In the Fallout4.ini there already EXISTED a line that said "sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\," and I simply added ", SOUND\" to it. Thats it.
Instead of that, I added a complete second "sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, SOUND\" line, while having the first "sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\," unedited, which was causing the porblem. There must be some kind of a reading order so it just took the first unedited line, and simply ignored my added line.
So long story short: just be sure you have just ONE line under [Archive] that says "sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, SOUND\"
Man your mod is just fantastic - I'm definately going "YES!"
As a request, is there a way you could add some of these typical scratching and cracking sounds of old vinyl records ? That would be the top of it! Thanks again dude, great work !
I'm glad to hear you solved it! Weird how the last line doesn't just overwrite the first one, though. But hey, it's Bethesda.
I could definitely do some kind of phono clicking, but I'm not sure if vinyl dust would fit very well with holotapes? I'll try editing a few and see how it'll turn out. Anyway, thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it, yo
I just think it would perfectly fit to the tone of these oldie tracks. But yeah sure, you're right, given the fact that these are actually holotapes, they wouldn't make those scratchy noises...but I don't know man, thats not the point, just thought it would be more immersive music wise, you know
Just give it a shot and let's see what it turns out And yet again, great work !
Without any kind of modding tools, I could only modify the files themselves, so it affects all radios, making them a little bit too quiet. Who knows though, maybe when the tools are out, I can just set a flag so the Pipboy goes through the same audio processing as vanilla radio audio sources.
So now a radio's music is processed twice? I'm curious how that'll sound in-game.
In any case, I'm loving the new PipBoy radio sound. Using the +4dB version the volume is still a bit lower than vanilla, making it just about perfect. FYI, my sound settings are at default.
Yep. I'm hoping once the GECK comes out, it'll be possible to just add the existing radio effect to the Pipboy audio. I might lose control over how it sounds, but then people won't have to download 130mbs and I won't have to spend 4 hours rendering audio files, lmao.
yes i did . Its crash everytime when i go outside sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, textures\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\"
Not sure how this mod could crash your game. it's just loose files in your directory. The most it could do is f*#@ up the sound for radios and stuff. are you 100% sure it's this particular mod? Because it worked no problems for me

Now the other songs I added sound wrong.
Debating degrading those sound files or removing them.
Endorsed.
So many terrible choices in this game.
Sounds immersive with tastefully appropriate quality loss.
Hours of play testing no problems found.
