Honestly Dak's replacer looks cartoony, like a toy nerf gun with a drab military colour palette. I think this one looks more "realistic," if you can call it that. I can take it more seriously than Dak's, is what I am getting at.
Invalid id range for esl module. To repair that use xedit, open the plugin, remove the esl flag, renumber the formid starting from 800, reinstall the esl flag, save
That worked for the meshes, but now the gun uses .308 and the vanilla non-auto receivers are full auto. I imagine you just copy pasted stuff from the standalone version into the replacer version.
vice versa, copied the vanilla to make the stand alone, and no as iron sights are changed and mat swaps applied, if its always auto you may have soemthing else editing it, do you use tac reload? that might change the way it is.
I had the same "vanilla non-auto receivers are full auto" until I deleted in FO4edit: Weapon-> DNAM - Data -> Flags(sorted) -> Automatic entry. And thank you for this, great work.
Much prefer this to the other replacers, I always thought the AR had a lot of potential that wasn't executed properly... this is the closest anyone has come. Bravo.
Yes, originally it was a machine gun and the first weapon made for the game (see this wiki entry). It's clunky size made to look right for someone in PA - which is also why the 10mm pistol (the 2nd weapon made) looks big and clunky too. They never bothered sorting them out.
At that early stage, they didn't plan on giving players many different weapons but instead a very few with lots of customisation. That's why there's incongruities like single-shot action in a VATS-sneak (even with an auto receiver), and 50-cal written on the suppressor, and why NPCs carrying it sound like they're carrying a mini gun. They eventually just called it "assault rifle" and walked away as if it never happened.

Still, yours looks nice too, particularly better than the vanilla one and deserves a try !
Now I wanna know about the landscape texture mods you are using in the pics (those roads, man !) and the grass mod too.
Keep it up !
Not saying this one looks bad, but just on a plain functional stand point Dak's is most definitely not the more cartoonish one.
