Same issue, here. First thing I noticed was when i picked up a bunch of eyebot boards he tried to engage in conversation, but I was busy and didnt talk to him. Later on found out I couldn't upgrade him (with the eyebot motherboards not talking about the chemstation upgades) with the eyebot boards even though I had everything needed, when selecting one of the 3 options the conversation just end and nothing happens. Then I got the vault 81 quest and found out not long after I can no longer talk to him at all, was hopping to dismiss him as I read another comment where that can reset his companion perk in a way.
Can i request a companion? It’s already made I just need it converted from New Vegas or you can use the outfit (at least to start) that was already converted. The author gave permission.
For some reason the model for ED-E was not there. I tested both mods, the original and this one and nothing seems to get the model to show. What I mean is that when I downloaded the original mod ED-E was there, he could shoot his lasers and I could recruit him but it was like he was invisible (I could even bump into him). When I downloaded this mod all the notes and upgrade materials spawned in but ED-E's broken body was not by the car. I think it might be an issue with the original mod but since there doesn't seem to be any one responding to messages there I thought I would post here and ask if anyone else has had this or a similar issue. I have Automatron if any one was wondering. Thank you if anyone responds I really want to get this mod working!
I did not download the mod manually, I used the default nexus mod manager. I could try doing it manually but ive never been comfortable doing it. Time to learn I guess.
Never mind I was able to get it to work. If you want to know the Issue I apparently had to download the original mod on the manager and then also manually put the files in. I had to do the same with this mod as well. I am probably explaining it badly but It works I believe. Thank you.
Presumably he meant downloading the mod manually from here on the site instead of with the manager, then using Vortex to add the zip file as a new mod(in Vortex)
At some point in my playthrough Ed-E's name got changed to eyebot. I think it may have happened after I gave him an upgrade. Still functions fine, however. I never dismissed him since I got him, though. Could this be related to the automaton dlc bug that causes robot's names to be impossible to change if they were built before doing the Dangerous Minds mission? I have yet to complete that one. I never opened Ed-E in the robot workbench, but I think giving him an upgrade may have caused this bug from the DLC to trigger. That's just my theory, though.
Not sure what happened cause at some point I couldn't access some of the dialogue options and the eyebot was hounding me and locking me into dialogues to give it an upgrade I didn't have. It happened after I crafted some Ed-E blueprints or something at the at the utility bench, but not right away. It was after I picked up something off the eyebot in "The Dig" mission. I kept trying to give them to Ed-E, but it got me nowhere and it was approaching me constantly. I couldn't even access the dismissal dialogue. I tried console commands which didn't work. In the end the fix was giving myself all the upgrades with the esp explorer mod and give one to the bot. It also fixed the naming problem.
I saw someone else posting about the duplicate vault 81 quest at some point. It also happened to me, but I didn't look into it much cause it's not gamebreaking. I'll try completing it with console commands to see what happens.
I havn't recruit(find) ED-E but when I got some junks from DLC's eyebot,it tell me I can craft something to ED-E,is it an issue or I can't recruit ED-E without this?Thanks.
Heyo, first of all i must say i LOVED (and still do) ed-e, be it in FoNV or (thanks to you) in Fo4. Now, idk if im dumb or if i found a glitch but after finishing ed-e's quest in vault 81, and turning on the radio, after some time i got a new quest in (you guessed it) vault 81 to find yet another holotape. So, is there another one there, or not?
There should only be one holotape in vault 81, the reference holotape should have been the first quest, and that's in the glowing sea, then it's the vault 81 quest, then it's just finishing his upgrades.
Yeah, but i think the reason is that i got Affinity quest pop up windows 4 times (2 for each Affinity threshold). 2 before finding the 2nd eyebot, and 1st before visiting vault 81, and 2nd 2 hours (+-) after picking up the holotape.
Yep. One of my "two guesses" was in the lab where Curie was but either that isn't it or I completely missed it. I even checked the terminals to see if I needed to eject it.
Assuming you aren't using another mod that alters the area, there's a desk with a terminal on the way to Curie(not near her btw, just at the top of a set of stairs in the secret area that leads to her), and the holotape is next to it. If the terminal is there, you can confirm it's the right one by its contents:

Thanks for making ED-E a little quieter, it's now much more pleasant to be near him. Unfortunately, the upgrade process seems to be really glitchy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it breaks earlier upgrades. When I first tried to expand his motherboard by crafting the circuit board, there was no black screen and no prompt to install anything. It wasn't until I had crafted five of the corresponding items that the black screen kicked in and I had the upgrade dialog for the first time. However, its motherboard was shown as already fully expanded without unlocking the features that come with it. Other upgrades don't work as they should as well. The stealth upgrade stops working when I install the Duraframe upgrade for example. I recommend rewriting or simplifying the procedure. Maybe you could add the upgrades as equippable items in ED-E's inventory.
I'll probably rework it, but equippable item suggestion won't work because a lot of his functionality is built into his actor base, which gets swapped out during the primary upgrades. I'll likely make the circuit boards unavailable until everything else is done if they keep bugging out.
Can you give me some upgrade instructions? What is the best way to proceed without doing anything wrong? I started with the motherboard because it's immediately available.
The best way is to use the upgrade topic in his dialogue, the trading system uses a similar script but I originally built it for dialogue interaction.
As for the circuit boards, I think if you dismiss and rehire him, it should accurately give the board perks. The other big upgrades automatically rehire him but I think I forgot to do so with the circuit boards
NOTE: simply crafting the item does not install upgrades, the reason it goes black screen is to prevent you from crafting multiples
Hey, Love the mod but the name ingame doesnt seem to be well with me. For some reason the name ED-E isnt mentioned anywhere its only repair eyebot and the companions name is eyebot i dont know if i did something wrong or if i have to continue the affinity quest but i just saw in the screenshots of the mod it said broken ED-E and mine is broken eyebot, also another thing i noticed is i cant get it to work with any mod that allows me to have multiple companions. It works with certain modded companions like heather but she has her own thing allowing her to be paired with anyone. It wont let me bring any other companions with ED-E or "eyebot" no matter if its modded or vanilla companion.
Edit: Downgraded to the 1.3 and everything is fixed :)
I'm hoping to fix this tomorrow. The CK doesn't like packing all the files at once but I thought it had worked this time
EDIT: one of my scripts was borked but it was actually me forgetting the name of the script it was referencing, not the CK this time lol update incoming, and should fix the reported issues, including the quest progression issues
EDIT 2: I just realized I forgot to update the dismiss script, and I can't fix it until Thursday 😰
was working fine on the previous version, 1.3. upgrading to 1.4, decided to start over, wasn't that far in. and i can fix up ed-e, but i can't recruit her. collecting her note won't update the quest, nor does the 2nd quest marker appear either.
Edit 1: downgrading to 1.3, was able to update the quest so i can talk to ede again. updated to 1.4, and continuing the quest was fine. she follows, can talk, command, etc. but she is now called eyebot
