I know in my head that laser shouldn't have recoil alright. It will be a wet dream for all military braces. Yet it's not fun for me. It felt like I just flip a switch and wait for my enemies to die. Well, that really does sounds like a wet dream for all military braces.
Are there any kind of idiots more idiotic and have more free time than those who try to talk sense in a video game? You have Fallout 4 nexus gun nuts and scientists.
i don't appreciate your tone i mean i like debating video game logic sometimes but i also don't care that much about realism it's less "ugh this is so bad completely unrealistic" and more "mmm that's not how that works chief but f*#@ it let's blast some muties"
i remember some nerds going crazy about the kriss vector having any form of recoil in games like pubg so the next time i was at the gun range i told the 10 year old boy that wanted shoot with us that "the vector has no recoil" and the next thing you know the gun almost wacked his jaw
I wish people understood the difference between lore friendly and realistic. This is objectively lore-friendly cuz lasers have recoil in each Fallout game where recoil is a mechanic. It's unrealistic, but so are deathclaws and giant green super-humans and common two-headed cows. Anyways pointless rant over, thanks for the mod lol
What case is it that you're closing, Budweiser or Heineken?
LASER (Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation) does actually have recoil, however, it has miniscule impact on its 'firing'. I suggest that a grade in physics is what's needed here, therefore NOT making this mod 'lore friendly' as it's scientifically incorrect.
And yes, let me quote the good ol' "If ya don't like it, don't download it" diatribe that was sure to be rolled out.
Just sick of people wheeling out the 'lore friendly' excuse to ratify their inaccurate description (and mostly knowledge) of what they're trying to justify.
Well, a more accurate description is this mod makes the weapon in line with how other Laser weapons appears in the game, regardless of how nonsensical it is. Technically nothing in the lore says anything about recoil in laser guns but that is how it is depicted in the Fallout games with 3D graphics.
Right just to ratify in fallout three their are terminals explaining that the lasers use a microfusion pulse to generate power and light for the rifle.
As in their literally making a tiny tiny fusion pop inside the gun to create the light and push the components, they're literally combustion engines that do fusion and that reaction needs to be vented. Even blanks can give a rifle kick so when the lasers seem to smoke out the barrel when fired that's most likely exhaust from the fusion pulse being vented out the end of the gun as its so hot that venting anywhere else would burn the user
Some smoke does discharge from the rifle when fired, but honestly the spent fusion pulse would be more akin to steam rather than smoke.
Not really sure of the percentages but most of what would be discharged would be what the hydrogen fused into (deuterium being and isotope of hydrogen and thus most likely the contents of a microfusion cell used as fuel for the pulse)
The exhaust would be a mixture of elements but still a large portion would probably be hydrogen but the rest would have been fused into other substances such as helium, vaporised lithium and smattering of short lived isotopes etc.... which in effect would just be sparks and hot air
the above is a video of a reanimation done by the maker of this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/62410 i think their using vanilla weapons effects and perhaps a retexture mod of the rifle itself but while yes their isn't much of smoke or discharge their is the muzzle flash and some rather faint steam or smoke from the barrel
it actually is lore friendly because fallout laser guns all have recoil and it does actually have an explanation in game if you bother to look it's not scientifically accurate of course but it IS lore friendly also its a god damn video game balance exists and something without recoil isn't balanced
personally, I think the release of energy from the fusion core into the wave/particle diverter is what is causing the gun to kick. Each shot is essentially a miniature nuclear explosion that has the light it gives off focused into a laser, like a small scale Project Excalibur. Its probably expelling excess particles out of the gun as well, giving it more recoil and accounting for the weird wispy flame effect the lasers have. Then again, I'm not a physicist so I could just be talking out of my ass.
here's the the thing though light has very insignificant amount of mass (also minor correction fusion cell) however yes fusion cells and cores are basically mini fusion reactors so i can see how the reaction could cause recoil
Thank you for this. I've never liked 0-recoil lasers, they just don't feel fun to shoot. I couldn't care less whether it's lore friendly or not, fun always comes first to me.

As we see in this 100% accurate recreation of a Fallout laser and totally NOT a musket in real life, there is recoil, but wear the flash and smoke?
Again were is the flash from the laser capacitor and the smoke?
More smoke please.
