Interesting. This also occurs on his Pipe Gun Mesh Tweaks and his Pistol Grip Combat Rifle Overhaul, and his Generic Radium Rifle. I wonder why these are all skinned. As far as I can tell, they don't need to be?
Most of the time its not needed. Its for special "fake" animations on the weapon, like the rippers chain. I'm guessing its a setting on the "export of the mesh" from the modeling software that is defaulted on and people forget to turn it off.
Nifskope and edit the vertex description on the individual meshes in the nif (remove skinned) . If you don't know what you are doing in nifscope, you can really mess up the nif which will crash the game. Some weapons need the skinned flag to work, like the select shotgun, removing the flag will break it. That's why CHW suggests the authors do it.
