I love the idea of this, but I don't want to give up lasers altogether. It would be great if it were a mod on laser weapons (like a different muzzle attachment, or barrel), or new weapons altogether (possibly with the muzzle flash like the guns the sandmen used in Logan's Run).
no more blinding gatling! in the subject... would the laser not heat the air like lightning? i prefer invisible lasers, not knowing exactly there the shot came from is very important in battle. i can see this as part of the reason for inventing lasers that have a burst instead of streaming beam.
Heating air like lighting ... any images around or a video of what you have in mind?
[...] There are also fundamental limits to laser weapons, including diminished effectiveness in rain, fog and smoke, which scatter laser beams. The laser beams also need to remain locked onto their targets for several seconds in order to inflict damage.
cant find examples and i dont know the physics. i did find a thing about breakdown when a strong pulse happens. https://www.rp-photonics.com/laser_induced_breakdown.html i dont understand the jargon xD i'll just go with "they have muzzle flash because it's a pulse and there is an invisible beam... science!"
I'd really like to use this because it looks absolutely realistic (according that laser rifles are... realistic) and would give the feedback you ask for. But I run REACTOR ENB? which has, out of all, one great feature which is enhancing the FX visuals of all energy weapons... and make them fancy (but, arguably, unrealistic). I am torn between those two options (to sum up : going more realistic or going fancy).
