Regarding difference between this mod and Oppressor08's mod. Oppressor08 has made detailed comparasment, so be sure to check it out if you're wondering about the difference. Go with the mod you like more (or both).
I was 1st, model I used is a bit more detailed. Just look at pictures and get the one you like more. (Havent used his mod so idk if it is any different in crafting/dmg...)
Edit: model I used is actually missing some tiny details in comparasment to the other one.
