Would you mind telling me what program you used for this? I would love to try making one for the Heather companion mod so any advice would be really welcome if you have time. Thank you.
You probably already found a way to do this, but in case others are wondering: This is perfectly and easily doable in Audacity. (It even allows to do them in batches!). Just get a program to extract .fuz files and convert the resulting files into .wav files, import those into Audacity, alter the pitch to the desired percentage (it lets you preview as you alter it) and then export the edited .wav file, re-convert it and re-pack it into the .fuz file to later replace the original. The programs used for the extraction and conversion can be found here on the Nexus. Oh, and it works the opposite way, too. You can make deeper voices this way.
I use both higher male and female protagonist voices and I've done my own compatibility "patches" for Fusion City Rising and other mods that have voiced PC dialogue using this method, the voices sound identical to those provided by the higher protagonist voice mods. I've also done my on patches for Deeper Thoughts - Curie's additional dialogue and Higher Voice for Curie, so I've given this extensive use.
Hi there, this is a good voice mod.. I like the higher one, but i dont like the distortion.. can you make a new one with less distortion ? let's say.. 35% or 40 % pitch..
There are solid technical reasons why the distortion is essentially unavoidable when you tweak formants, as in the case with Type U2. If you ignore formants, such as with the other voice types, you don't engender the distortion, but at the same time, ignoring formants means you can only raise the pitch of the voice by a certain amount before it starts sounding like they sucked helium. Not even an industry-leading app specifically designed to tweak vocal timings can do a better job with straight dialogue. I'm not going to say it will never be possible, because that's obviously not true, but for the time being this seems to be about as good as it's going to get. And yes, I too was disappointed.
A lesser pitch adjustment than 50% would actually not matter; the problem is inherent in formant processing _at all,_ not so much the degree.
It was a requested mod, but yeah, I'll live. Though I daresay the 3% modification, at least, is too subtle to notice, and thus disqualified from any reasonable claims of non-realism.
ive read the mod descriprion 7 times and i still cant find the part where the mod maker says hes trying to fix pipers voice being to low. for sone reason all i can find is the thing about it being a requested mod. i mean what gives? didnt the mod maker know that the moment he offered histime and effort to whoever wanted it, folks would come out of the woodwork like roaches and ask what the hell he thinks hes doing?
lol. listen to you ppl. is this what you do with youre time? some folks make mods while other folksdo the equally worthwhile job of trolling free content? im afraid to look at the talkback for mods that are stupid on purpose like talking cats or john cena or whatever. the comment section for those must be truly toxic with you guys
@Ronalfredo94b - You're absolutely right. Modders make mods for free, and should be appreciated for that. It is really sad when people feel like they have to complain about something they can simply not use if it doesn't interest them. And judging by the number of people who downloaded this one, you can see that a lot of people did want this mod. I sure did. You just got a kudos point.
