I REALLY hate it when settlement attacks occur, crops ALWAYS gets destroyed. Which what drove me to design my settlements like this; placing all my crops on a elevated platform AWAY from danger from attackers that ALWAYS spawn at ground level.

It drives me bonkers that crops ALWAYS get destroyed plus the fact that when you try to repair them, the game bugs out and it never gets repaired when you try but STILL consumes the resources needed to repair it when you repair it again and again.
After COUNTLESS redesigns, trial and error, I have concluded that the ONLY way to get around this is simply place them somewhere attackers can NEVER get to when they spawn, ABOVE ground level. It also drove me to make my LV1 settlers to be as OP as possible with the best gear I can get in the vanilla game. A SH*TLOAD of turrets pointing at spawn points helps too.
In this blueprint, all you need to do is just move the crops yourself onto the elevated platform as seen in the pics and wire the water thingy that I have also included yourself.
