I did this just for myself basically to learn how to do it, not really intending to release it.
But someone saw my screenshot on Steam and asked if it was available on the Nexus. I decided to upload it since it looked like at least one person wanted it, and that's enough of a reason for me.
Edit, 21/12/15: Ok, I'm officially amazed. I thought maybe, just maybe, a couple of dozen people might want this. But it's now had more downloads (600+) in two days than some of my other mods have had in, well, ever. Shows how popular skin is!
Anyway, I'm encouraged now to do up some variations on this. Watch this space. No promises, but I think every girl needs at least a little black number in her wardrobe for those Christmas parties, right?
But... there's always a but... it is not compatible with my Slinkier Red Dress, unfortunately.
I'm looking at creating a new CBBE-compatible version. It will have to be different, though, because of the different amount of body there is under the dress in the CBBE version.
Anyway, I'm playing around with it in Bodyslide (which has also just been released for FO4) and I'll release the new one whenever I reckon I've got something acceptable.
PS: Ooops! I just spotted a problem with the shoes, so I'll need to tweak and upload again to fix that. Don't have time right now, but I'll see if I can do it later today. For now it works, so long as you don't pay too much attention to feet, you perv!
I love the black version of the dress. It gives Magnolia a very pretty and presentable look. I always thought that the red dress drew too much attention. Along with "Better Third Rail", "Pilgrim" and "Better Goodneighbourhood", the atmosphere in my game at Third Rail is so great. And the cherry on on top is the dress.
Do the textures and the materials files included in the download keep the loose skirt part from flying up and being all buggy? I tried altering pipers default clothing and the skirt part of it is always floating directly up whenever she sits. When i open the .nif in the studio i get this error "Bones in shape 'FOutfit_0' in reference skeleton". I think that relates to my problem and i wonder if you got this also?
I presume you're using BodySlide -> Outfit Studio to alter the outfit, since you mention opening the .nif in the 'studio'
When I first tweaked this for the CBBE body using OS, I had exactly this problem. The lower half of the dress had a life of its own in game.
I fixed it by: Right-click on the CBBE body name in the top right window (Meshes) and 'Set Reference' - the name should turn green. Right-click on the outfit name in that same window, and click 'Copy Bone Weights' - it should briefly flash a completion-bar thingy. The dress then behaved itself in game.
I tried a green retexture for you, but I wasn't really happy with the result. The other files (glowmaps or whatever they are) caused it to have nasty yellow highlights and it looked pretty silly. By all means go ahead and try yourself, if you've any artistic talent at all you'll make a better job of it than me.
you rule! I may see if I can give it a go, too. The default texture looks so..plastic? I opened it up in GIMP and I'm surprised that there aren't any sparklies on the normal map; I feel like in theory glitter/sequins ought to be equally "shiny", but pointed in different directions?
I've had a quick look at the Sequin dress, and unfortunately it uses the main dress texture for the straps as well. So to hide the straps I'd have to hide a chunk of the dress as well, and it looks completely ridiculous.
So until we get to the stage where the tools are available to remove the straps from the model properly, this doesn't look possible. In any case, I'm not the right person to do that sort of fancier stuff. I'm just a chancer who knows how to do simple stuff like hide bits of textures. More artistic and skilled work like changing the actual models I'll leave to the real artists among us!
That's the problem - the bit of the texture that is on the straps is the same bit of the texture that covers the whole midriff/bust area. So I can't just hide the straps, it would end up with holes in the main dress as well.
Even if that was a good thing (grin) it wouldn't work - there isn't a whole body under that dress, there's a great big yawning nothingness between the boobs and the hips. Yes, I know it's possible to put a full body under there with Nifskope, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.
Maybe I'll try it as a learning project, but that's not a promise.

Please don't make the mistake of thinking I have any clue what I'm doing!
If you know how to do it, then let me know and that would speed it up.
All assistance gratefully received!
Off to BodySlide School, methinks...
Edit: sry, meant to do my post wasn't paying attention.

Hope that helps.
Eat some turkey or something while you wait. ;o)

Any chance you could do something similar with the Sequin dress? Removing the small straps?

It does look much better this way, great work!
Oh I see you checked the sequin dresses already, too bad they can't be done too.
