The green really is important to the statues here in Massachusetts (Where I live)
They're actually made out of metal, usually cast iron or bronze which gives them that old nautical feel. That bronze gets greenish over time.

Ohhh really they are? I am familiar with Roman and Greek statues and the thought didn't even cross my mind. Although i like the stone/marble feeling i made them to be, i will make an optional with the original color palette.

Simply, just don't copy the textures that replace the green one. To know which one is the one that replaces the green, view them in Large mode (Not working on windows 7, but perfect on windows 10)

      @ LucidAPs
      Thank you!

      @ parhamlinker
Most of us know how to view and even edit a bit .dds files. What we wanted was new detailed version of LucidAPs that matches his new _m/_n.dds.

Roman and Greek status are typically carved stone or cast cement. Many of the 18th and 19th century buildings and statues in North America and Europe, however, are made by casting tinned copper, particularly government buildings and state-sponsored art installations. Dig the roofs of old Montreal and and much of the sculpted artwork throughout Paris. There's a pretty distinctive statue in NYC you might recall as well.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/28/Kingston_-_ON_-_Town_hall1.jpg <-- This picture displays the City Hall in Kingston, ON (est.1844) undergoing a "facelift" for its oxidized copper roof. You can clearly see the burnished, warm appearance of new tinned copper on the roof of the central dome and the flat, almost pastel green appearance of the oxidized copper on the wings.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingston_City_Hall_%28Ontario%29#/media/File:Kingston_City_Hall_Andrew_pmk.JPG <-- Another picture of the same building displaying the same effect.

Note that replacing oxidized copper is a foolish and frivolous waste of taxpayer money but I'm glad K-town's municipal government could provide such a clear example for the comparison of these materials. Also, copper oxidizes very fast, meaning these statues would have taken on an almost entirely green appearance in just a few short years. That fancy new copper roof on City Hall started to oxidize on the central dome before they even finished the wings.

      RE: "After vanilla colours,"
http://wpmedia.ottawacitizen.com/2015/01/ottawa-ont-july-10-2009-sir-john-a-macdonald-on-parliam.jpg <-- This is what an old cast copper statue looks like close-up. It's worth noting that casting produces a marvelously smooth surface and that surface is relatively unmarred by pockmarks or pits. While stone will tend to chip, crack and break over time, copper just goes green and stays that way...for an absurdly long time. Without direct interference and assuming relatively moderate environmental conditions, a 20 year old copper statue will look much the same as a 200 year old copper statue.

(Note: There are some wonderfully well-preserved carved stone statues around. It's pretty incredible to see a marble statue carved so skillfully that it really does look like a silk dress draped over warm, living flesh. Freaky-deaky, especially when you realize it's like 1,800 years old.)

PS: Oxidized iron is what we all know as "rust." Nobody makes fancy decorative anything out of iron unless it's real wrought iron (dig this pillar in India: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrought_iron#/media/File:QtubIronPillar.JPG) By "real wrought iron," I'm referring to iron with a high incidence of silica slag which acts to interrupt oxidation in the same way a cleared section of forest interrupts a wildfire -- by depriving the chemical reaction of its necessary fuel. For reference, the Eiffel Tower is made of wrought iron. It's a structurally solid material that resists corrosion and oxidation fairly well making it well suited for 19th century buildings and frames, however the difficulty in refining it and creating fine details means that is a less-than-optimal choice of material for sculpting.

      Metal is fun!

Thank you very much for this, besides the fact that i wanted to know all these things it will also help me texture these better
Do you think that could happen on Boston's Fallout statues? Would like to make an effect like that.

Also i like this, a statue covered in foliage. Although pretty sure that's a real girl??

Yeah, like the others said. The statues in the game are copper, oxidized over time. Same material as the Statue of Liberty which is why they're green.

      what they said https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statue_of_Liberty#/media/File:Statue_of_Liberty_7.jpg

It's widely frowned upon to antique appraisers and collectors to mess with the patina (oxidation) on antique objects, as it enhances the beauty, value and the aged feel to them. Even rust has a certain coolness to it.

Looks nice, even up close and in different lighting conditions.

Only suggestion I have is once you feel closer to done if you could possibly merge them (especially if you are going to do all the statue types) into one download.
And if you already mentioned that somewhere, ignore me because I tend to be blind sometimes...
Edit: yep... right below this post... sigh

Only one i tried was the lions. Excellent work. Not much of a fan for the whole sci fi and faded look bethesda is working towards lol. If we are rebuilding after a fallout, i don't belirve i would build rusty junk(was a carpenter for a while). Anyways i do lots of texture work now on these games and i do like the retexture. Nice work and gave an endorsment(i only endorse files i like and work properly). Be nice to see more like the lions

Any reason why my comment about plastic statues was deleted? I wasn't being a troll or being rude or annoying. Haha.

I wasn't making the stuff up you know, many statues here in Australia are actually plastic - for real! I saw it on Time Team with Tony Robinson, how RSL's (Returned and Services League) replaced the bronze statues with plastic ones, because vandals would constantly break off the rifle from the statue. So they put the Bronze one in the RSL club and kept a plastic replacement outdoors.

I just wanted to point out that plastic toy soldiers isn't too far off reality.

Really nice work! I'm from Boston and agree with others that the original colors are very authentic.

It would be great if you started combining textures into a single pack - like 1 for new colors and 1 for original colors. It's kind of annoying to have 3 seperate installs for your mod, with versions 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 respectively.

Trying out the lion textures now.
