UPDATE: I've uploaded two new optional versions that have slightly louder volume. It would appear that the sound loses some of its volume once in-game compared to in my editing software. I've done some testing and found a 5.0 db increase to be sufficient, along with a little bit of Track EQ to tweak the sound.

does this change the automatic sound as well? (can't stand the way the combat rifle sounds silenced on auto)

UPDATE: I've added two optional versions of the mod that use a custom sound; a suppressed, subsonic .308 Winchester (with or without trigger reset click).

Thanks to Mr. Dave for pointing out to me that the sound really shouldn't have a lot of "oomph" to it, since a suppressed, subsonic .308 Winchester is actually pretty damn quiet.

Oh wow that sounds better. You get the metallic smack of that action slamming shut that the combat rifle would make, being a BAR, and not much else. Nice.

Yeah, I think it sounds a lot better too!

I actually just put up two more versions that have a slightly louder sound signature.

The vanilla sounds have no "oomph" to them, as you put it, because they are the actual sounds a suppressed gun makes. That's the whole point of a silencer. If you whisper the word, Pew. That is the exact sound a silenced 308 makes. The click on my G3 chambering a round is louder than the crack of the bullet breaking the speed of sound, which is louder than the pew of the gun when fired while silenced.

I'd have to agree with Dave.

Although both modded guns sound the same. I guess what I'm missing is the actual sound the gun makes when the bullets are hit in the chamber. Both hits would sound different from one another.

Honestly, it all comes down to personal preference.

I realize that a suppressed rifle firing subsonic .308 Winchester is pretty quiet. The same can be said for ANY weapon firing its respective caliber in subsonic form. That said, I still feel like the vanilla sound for the suppressed Combat Rifle is just a little too quiet.

Perhaps I'll take the original vanilla sound and increase the volume just a tad, and upload it as an optional version. That's a big "perhaps" though!
