Does not work properly with "Leather Left(/right) Arm", Mod: "Studded Leather". Armor itself is invisible, but you can see the studs (flying)!
Is your mod "savegame friendly" (so, if i delete the mod with invisible painted armor, it does not break the savegame)? I have tested it a bit, and the armor was visible again as expected (and not completely disappeared or broken).
What is the current best mod to hide helmets/headgear (and is savegame friendly)? Are you planning something like this?
I tested the mod on a fresh, otherwise-unmodded game *without* any CC content and confirmed that this mod does enable the paint category. It's a global variable that all of the CC paintjobs switch to TRUE, and this mod enables it too just in case.
Without knowing how your game is set up, my best guess is that this is a mod conflict. There may be an armor mod which disables CC_HasArmorSkins because the mod uses another attach point for material swaps. More likely, a mod may be editing the armors' base objects. A lot of mods here were made before the CC update, which is (I think) what introduced the attach point for paint jobs. If the base object is overwritten by a version without the attach point then the "Paint" category won't appear. Without double-checking, I think that the AWKCR overwrites date back before the CC update, but this itself would be overwritten if you use Armorsmith Extended (where "Paint" is present, but useless) or Unified Clothing Overhaul (which I think doesn't have attach points for paint but has invisible material swaps anyway.)
I might be able to diagnose the problem better if you tell me your exact modlist, but the easiest way to fix the problem is going to be to download F04Edit (an extremely valuable tool for solving mod conflicts) and checking to see if anything is editing CC_HasArmorSkins or armors.
I guess another potential reason for the bug report is that you tested it on an armor group aside from (Leather, Metal, Combat, Synth), which doesn't have an attach point for paint?
If you manage to find the problem, or want to tell me your modlist so we can diagnose it, go ahead and reply.
I am DEFINITELY going to try this. My current load order doesn't have ECO or any other extra crafting mods as I'm keeping it a bit slimmer for all my SS2 mods. This is a godsend if it works for me! Thanks!!
