Hey all, feel free to post your settlement photos in the images section! Would love to see how people are using the ladders.
Also, what is this? I posted the mod on like the second to last day of the month and you voted for it in such a short amount of time to get it into mods of the month, you all are crazy haha. Awesome, woohoo!
Some good updates in version 1.1 that I've seen a lot of people mention. Adjusted some things and fixed some things, including Transfer Settlements compatibility! See changelog at the bottom of the description page for more info.
What patch do I need or is there a patch yet for transfer settlements? Whenever I import a settlement that has ladders they don't transfer and I have to add them back in myself (sort of a chore considering the weird snap points).
EDIT: I see in the sticky transfer settlement compatibility was added but it's still not working for me... What can I do to remedy this?
EDIT 2: I have not checked if "Export Markers" was ever checked when exporting a settlement. I'm sure this is my issue. Thank you for letting me waste your time.
I've found that when deleting a ladder, it splits into two pieces and the small top section remains where it was while the longer bottom section is scrapped. The top half can be moved around or scrapped to get rid of all the ladder.
Otherwise I've found this to be a brilliant mod neeher and other than the minor complaint, I can't fault this and look forward to all your future mods and videos!
I noticed this too, HOWEVER, easy to fix this... Simply go into, and out of, build mode, grabbing the ladder each time after you delete it. After 1 cycle the whole ladder is deleted. PS: This cycle also works if you want to fine tune the placement of your ladder by using your number pad keys. I do these 2 things all the time in my settlements.
Thanks for the mod, neeher. I've made a Settlement Menu Manager patch for the vanilla ESL version so it also has its own menu in the workshop (in Structures > Wood.)
Hi is it different from the version with workshop framework here? Because I tried the one in the files section however while the vanilla esl works well, I cannot find any ladder category if using the workshop framework. (no apparent conflicts either).
Will test with your patch and check back
- edit: Yes, I can confirm with your patch it works flawlessly. (I already had it installed for other mods, so maybe that could have caused me issues?) By the way neheer, thank you this mod is wonderful! :)
Only difference is that my patch uses Settlement Menu Manager to inject the menu. The Workshop Framework version here uses that mod to inject the menu instead. Both menus are in Structures > Wood.
I made the patch in case someone is not using WSFW but uses SMM (or just prefers to use SMM for all their workshop mods) and want the ladders to have their own menu.
I'm trying to attach this to the edge of a vanilla wood floor with concrete block under it. I have a mod that makes those blocks stackable so I don't know if that is a problem or not. Anyway I can't attach a ladder at the top of the block where I have defenses setup. Most people probably use this same vanilla block to make huge walls around their settlements. I think if the block below it is sunk below the ground a bit then the ladder won't attach. Gonna take some practice to get this working right.
I'm using SS2 and I need to elimintate normal stairs in some settlements along those block walls so I can fit SS2 stuff in there.
Recently discovered that the ladder animation allows you to clip through things, as I built one that goes to the roof from inside Red Rocket. Works great going both up and down. As I was typing this, it occurred to me that you can now build underground in (likely) every single settlement. Do with this information what you will.
It's a little cheeky but honestly one of my favorite parts of this. I put floors above the ladder that have gaps that make it look like you could feasibly climb through, but then when you're up the ladder you don't have to have a big hole you can just accidentally fall through and break your legs. Playing with Maim makes this a pretty big deal. I may have broken my legs several times before doing this.

I have watched my NPCs slide down these ladders countless times.
