About this mod

Adds new dirty variants of three vanilla outfits using cut textures and materials from within the game files, and distributes them in the world.

Ever wonder why Bethesda didn't include "dirty" versions of the various pre-war outfits, like they did in Fallout 3? Turns out, they intended to, but either gave up or ran out of time to finish them! Within the game files are three more-or-less complete textures for "dirty" variants of three "pre-war clothing" items:

  • Sweater Vest and Slacks
  • T-Shirt and Slacks
  • Laundered Pink Dress

This mod adds new versions of these outfits using the unused "dirty" textures. For the first two, the original items have also been renamed to "Laundered Sweater Vest and Slacks" and "Laundered T-Shirt and Slacks" to reflect their "cleanness". The old Laundered Pink Dress keeps its name; the new outfit is "Dirty Pink Dress". The new versions are integrated into random loot and vendor lists and can appear in containers and vendor inventories just like any other clothing item.

Additionally, I've distributed these outfits to various characters and locations that I thought they'd be appropriate on:

Dirty Sweater Vest
  • Paul Pembroke. Additionally, his post-quest "rich" outfit has been changed to the clean version with a suitable hat.
  • The Pillars of the Community. I felt like it made sense for these scam cultists to all be wearing the same clothes, lol.
  • Arlen Glass
  • Matt Peabody
  • Two Goodneighbor drifters
  • One Covenant settler
  • Replaced all "loose" spawns of the clean version except the Jamaica Plain time capsule.
  • The "Covert Sweater Vest" now uses the dirty texture.
Dirty T-Shirt
  • Darcy Pembroke
  • Eddie Winter
Dirty Dress
  • Carol Peabody
  • Penny Fitzgerald
  • One Goodneighbor drifter

Just plop this at the bottom of your load order and you'll have it all in your game!

KNOWN ISSUES:

  • "I don't see a difference between the T-Shirts!"
  • You can see very faintly that the dirty version has some sweat stains, but I agree it's not that noticeable. Blame Bethesda; they made the texture.

  • "The dress's texture isn't aligned properly! The dirt is cut off in a weird way on the back!"
  • Again, blame Bethesda, I'm just using their cut assets.

There may be other issues I don't know about but I didn't run into any during testing. If you do and you know for certain it isn't a mod conflict, let me know. Also, check out my other mods if you're interested in supporting me.
