So, this works great for the most part. However, for some reason when I manually add the tags to the weapons (using rename everything) the correct icon does show up, but it puts the weapon all the way to the bottom of my weapon list. Even under the grenades. What would I need to do to make them show up in the correct spots? For instance "HuntingRifle3" should should up right under "HuntingRifle" or "HuntingRifle2" but it doesn't.
Thank you for the contribution. These tags add finer detail to the FIS interface, which makes it feel much more integrated.
Quick question. I am having as issue with some of the Energy tags not being sorted into the FIS categories. Specifically, a mod weapon to which I manually added the tag [LaserRifle2]. It ends up outside of the category list. Is this intentional? I found these lines in the XML Category document:
You should read instruction that m8r originally wrote. They means "when 'Energy' group is enabled, exclude it from 'Pistols/Rifles/Heavies', then make it only appears in 'Energy'". So, If you have problem with grouping, other category file may be interuppting.
I'am currently developing the addon capability for the FIS auto-tagger. That would allow your mod to be installed fully automated without manual edits.
If you're interesting in helping/testing the new version: There is a testing version with auto-tagger addon feature on the Collective Modding discord (Join links can be found on the FIS page in credits. The testing version is in the development channel for FallUI Inventory)
As I know, complex sorter version of FIS also contains auto-tag files. I have no idea whether custom-INNR-containing plugins may pre-occupy its sorting tag, since I'm trying to make esp-free sorting environment in my game so that I don't have it. If what you're trying to ask is "does it work WITHOUT any additional edit?", then answer is no, cuz it's nothing but icon library! Thing is, you're totally free to add new tags and it's easily done even with windows basic notepad.
I'm completely unknown about mod environment of VR version, but if you use FallUI - Inventory and its compatible sorting mod then everything goes just fine. Maybe renaming some folder can be required. But I'm pretty sure DEF_UI and VIS will not work in this way, since they use only one icon library at once. If you want to do so, you need to 'add' these icons to original library. Possible tools to use are: Adobe Animate or JPEXS for making swf library file, and Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape for SVG edit.

taggroupid="pistols" when="mcmini:FIS:Pipboy:bGrpEnergy==1"
remove-tags="LaserPistol2,AstHead" taggroupid> taggroupid="rifles" when="mcmini:FIS:Pipboy:bGrpEnergy==1"
remove-tags="InstituteRifle2,LaserRifle2,LaserRifle3,LaserRifle4,LaserRifle5,Tesla,PlasmaRifle2,PlasmaRifle3,PlasmaRifle4"
/taggroupid> taggroupid="heavies" when="mcmini:FIS:Pipboy:bGrpEnergy==1"
remove-tags="Flamethrower2" taggroupid
Any help understanding the cause is appreciated. Until then, I'll have to see what tag I can use to keep the mod weapons properly sorted.

Did you solve the issue? Also interested in this.
Edit: in what category would you place the Tesla Rifle...? Not sure how much it matters.
EDIT: now fully organized
Thanks for reading
