What Is This Mod?
Trove is my own take on addressing the problem of stingy caps stashes, which contain only 14 to 23 caps in vanilla FO4. Why would the denizens of the Commonwealth bother stashing away a fistful of caps as if it were some precious treasure trove? During the early game, when your player character is broke, finding caps stashes is pretty disappointing. In the late game, when your player character is typically swimming in caps already, the paltry sum in caps stashes feels kind of meaningless. So I started looking for mods that would give me a reason to be excited about caps stashes throughout the game. Unfortunately, though several available mods offer different solutions, none of them were quite what I was looking for.
Trove implements several straightforward ideas, adhering to some vanilla standards but increasing the variety and amount of caps found:
In summary, anytime you pick up a caps stash, you have a fully-randomized chance of finding an amount of caps that is more than 50 but less than 100. Finally, those little tins are at least worth your time to pick up!

Pretty much everything, except for other mods that directly edit the Caps Stash record (loot_capsStash_tin).

- A caps stash should only contain caps--not ammo, weapons, junk, etc. Same as vanilla FO4.
- A caps stash should not level with the player character, same as vanilla FO4.
- A caps stash should contain more than 50 caps but less than 100. This amount is notably more than vanilla FO4 but not too much.
In summary, anytime you pick up a caps stash, you have a fully-randomized chance of finding an amount of caps that is more than 50 but less than 100. Finally, those little tins are at least worth your time to pick up!
