I have watched a few youtube interviews of ww2 vets who were drafted. They were pacifists, but when it came to kill or be killed, they obviously made a different choice.
As almightyk said, pacifism doesn't mean you can't defend yourself. Even medics in the military are combat trained, despite them taking the Hippocratic Oath ("do no harm" doesn't appear in the original, and was added around 17C or so).
The official version: Tis a sad story, but it's true. I was left on the steps of an orphanage in the middle of a stormy night, without any record of who I was. During the night, before anyone else had a chance to discover me, I was found by a group of monkeys who were on a research trip regarding some possible pox virus doing the rounds, and decided to take me back to the jungle. Due to flights being cancelled and a staffing problem with security at the airport, it was surprising I was found during a security check. From there I was taken to a top secret government research facility, and had the abilities to speak any language in the world, become an elite fighting machine, pilot any vehicle known to man, and seduce anyone transmitted with implants into my brain during surgery where I was awake even when the took the top of my skull off (it tickles). After that they employed me as a secret agent and I went on missions where my identity changed so often that even they didn't know what to call me. During a high speed chase on jet skis across the ocean, I had an accident and developed a permanent shoulder injury, so was reassigned to a desk job in the glamorous location of Filey, which is where old people go to die. I'm just glad I don't live there.
The real version: Tis a sad story, but it's true. I'm of mixed heritage (French, German and Norwegian, but born in the UK) and my parents gave me a name that was easy to pronounce and spell, but for some reason people would always spell differently adding letters to it. The reason for this is my name will appear to be a shortening of a name (eg: Tony/Anthony) which meant people would extend it thinking they'd been given a shortened version. To make matters worse, my name could be shortened to a few other names and variations, so I ended up being known by many names, including God, because when I went into a room people would exclaim "Oh God! It's you...". Don't get me started on people trying to Anglicise it - how do you Anglicise FOUR letters that are already Anglicised? It actually did affect me growing up because even I wasn't entirely sure what my name was, and I did answer that I didn't know one day when I was about 6.
Years later, fed up with constant misspellings, I discovered that I could make Statutory Declarations, and as my mum was a solicitor and had a stamp, I would occasionally make up a Stat Dec that changed my name to various things. I never actually registered them with anything official, but apparently they stand because they were witnessed and stamped (albeit not by anyone in standing, but proof needed), which means my name has been Princess Fifi, Mistress of the Dark Arts since 2008. My passport says different. Which is correct? Nobody knows.
The bit about the shoulder injury is true, but not Filey. When you come off a jetski, don't try and keep hold of it otherwise you whiplash and collide with the jetski again, as well as ending up with the ability to dislocate your shoulder at will and a clavicle permanently fused to your ribcage.
Thank you very much for taking the time out to answer me so thoroughly (both versions) I really appreciate it. I must admit I loved your "official" version, it was very creative & funny. Of course the real version wasn't as funny (especially when you hurt yourself) but it explains a lot.
Most of all though I saw your sense of humour smashing through both versions & I had to laugh. The ability to make others laugh from words on a screen is commendable & I'm very glad I asked you. Again, thanks a lot for the answers (both versions) I enjoyed reading them
Nitpicky here but Pacifism doesn't mean "no violent actions". It just means "No use of direct violence to solve a dispute". A pacifist could still attack an opponents weapon to disarm them, for instance. The Dalai Lama is even a boxer.
But hey that doesn't prevent the purpose of the mod, I just like to educate.
Yeah, that's cool. I know Japan tries to follow the same ethos in regards to it's military, so while they can protect themselves, they won't be the aggressor. The name just harks from what I've seen no-kill runs called before.
I like the idea as i am a pacifist at heart i like to play F4 so as to rescue all the damsels in distress but how on earth do you avoid being killed murdered or trampled on brutally if i could play this game without killing a living (pixlated) being i would be sooo happy, so yes i would give it a go, can you explain more?
All my mod does is remove the ability to attack, so you can't have a case where a reflex action causes you to kill by "instinct", and stop you from dying if you want. It kind of enforces a pacifist run while turned on.
The idea of a pacifist run isn't really anything new, and janedynamite's post shows the videos of it being done without my mod. The whole mechanics of the game are completely altered this way, and it makes you work out a strategy that isn't just kicking open the gate in power armour and blasting away. If you go for a minimum kill play, then you need to be able to scout out patrols and cover where needed.
This is a lot harder than it sounds especially with followers (a tiny part of the reason that I included the ability to turn it off - maybe you need to accept that sometimes you have to kill someone) because they can be trigger happy and someone like Strong isn't particularly inconspicuous. It gives you the dilemma of whether you choose stealthing in and turning PS off when needed (you've still got the challenge of the boss and the possibility of everyone else joining in), or taking followers along and killing for you (in a way, the blood is still on your hands).
You'll also notice your perk build will be different, depending on how you want to play it. Instead of going down damage, you'll find yourself maxing out stealth, movement and health perks. There's also the disadvantage of not being able to power level by doing quests filled with XP due to the kill count. You'll find alternative routes to maximise your XP, and possibly even parts of the gameplay that have been ignored due to the game being a cornucopia of XP most of the time.
You DON'T need my mod to do a pacifist run, but it does have the advantage of allowing you to be immortal and be really light on system resources if you don't want to install a full on cheat mod (I love Cheat Terminal and I highly recommend it, which offers the essential bit, and it's brilliant, but it's not for everyone).
Like I said in the description, this has more or less come from a request, and is just an experimental mod I've thrown out (which I sometimes do).
How to overcome scripted events, where you have to kill your opponent (e.g. Kellogg)? Does your companion have to do the job? Or are followers pacifists as well?
Well you probably can use followers, but their kills count as your so you can do a trick where you give them a minigun or any other powerful weapon and disband them as your follower so if they kill kellog it wont count as your kill. A in-depth explanation of it (and of the whole pacifist run) was made by Ymfah 4 years ago https://youtu.be/owaEkJ3584I
Part of the reason it can be turned on and off is for situations where you have no option. The game can have it's own hissy fits at the best of times, so if you found that you couldn't complete the quest, then try it again with it off. With people like Kellogg, your follower can kill them for you, and it counts, and I think any characters that need to die or bleed out don't have a check to see who's responsible, as slim10tv says. I'd recommend doing a save before entering the location properly just in case, but this is good advice any time.
Regardless of whether you run the mod, doing a no/minimum kill mod adds an interesting tactical (obviously) and ethical element to it. I do like the ethical element because it allows you decide who you want to kill, and whether you consider synths and robots (most of which do seem to have a level of self awareness whether they display it or not) as alive, or do you go vegetarian and not even kill animals.
Ты не единственный, кто подумал также.... ))))))) Не хочешь стрелять, не экипируй оружие и убегай от каждого таракана. В моем личном списке самых бесполезных модов этот сразу же занял первое место. lol

Unrelated, but is your name really Unknown?

If you're not already an professional writer, you should try it!

if anyone got issues with scripted kills, just watch Ymfah's How to Pacifist Fallout 4 , it covers the main quest only.
Mittensquad may have a guide for the DLCs but I'm not sure lol
