Everything about NPC animations is broken. Manual weapons turn semi-automatic when firing from cover, NPCs cross and clip their arms when aiming a weapon and far away from the player, the left hand cover animation breaks guns, vertibirds become immortal if they ever play the stagger animation and will for eternity perform the crash animation clipping through terrain. Even with a decade of modding these issues can't be fixed... But you'll still find bootlickers making excuses for Bethesda.
I want to know who implemented and tested this and said, "yeah, this is fine."
Great, what you need. You can make a mod to increase the detection range of enemies to satellites and start the attack. Because they don't see enemies a step away from them and they only attack when my character starts to attack or is attacked by an enemy.
Not really a "fix" at all is it? This approach is: some weapon mods bork companions' fire-from-cover animations so I'll bork them entirely!
I never noted the problem above & beyond other occasional typical Bethesda "it just works" jank, but tend to leave them to their default guns. Using cover for fire's one of the few things FO4 has over FO3, and companions are stupid enough in fights already without totally disabling it.
Awesome! This is a long-awaited mod for me! I'll add it to my LO straight away. I would like to add my two cents regarding cover though:
1) This bug seems to only happen when the NPC leans *left* in cover, but leaning *right* doesn't break the animations. Would it be possible to only disable the left-leaning cover?
2) Is it possible to make an addon to disable left-leaning cover for *all* NPCs and not just companions?
I had noticed that most of the weapons added to the Nexus broke a lot of things in the game and also on all the Npc. Not to mention the animation mods.
I found the right remedy, I only play with Vanilla weapons. The only mods I add to them are aimed at improving stats and/or textures and also balancing.
And since no more problems
A gun fighting game where you can make your character play without using cover, and Npc's do the same, is not a fighting game, it's a cartoon
Yes it is a very janky looking bug but I thought it happened with vanilla weapons too, will have to test. Hopefully someone can nail the specific cause and provide a fix as weapon mods are too good to not use.
You might as well disable it entirely or it will still happen with enemy NPC's.

it only happens when an npc takes cover and tries to peak from the left side
...But whatever.
does anyone have a video? I'm so curious lol
It doesn't happen at every custom weapon mod. Is it only weapon mods with custom animations, maybe?
