I'd love to see a video(s) of your workflow. You and Fallout4guy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6RPH0yKPaA) are the most technically impressive builders imo. Very different styles but you both show the same kind of ingenuity. I'm curious how you are getting such clean rotations and tilts while maintaining perfectly clean fits. Are you using the console or something like place to adjust the pieces? Do you adjust one piece then copy the position/scale data to each one you need? Do you use any kind of guide pieces to keep things locked in tight?
Are you using the console or something like place to adjust the pieces?
Yes, usually modpos/setangle/modangle. If you align the building precisely to z=0/90/180/270 this doesn't require any trig computations for x/y rotation.
Do you adjust one piece then copy the position/scale data to each one you need?
Yes, any repeating patterns that can't be snapped or done by copying and pasting positions with Place Everywhere and then shifting the new piece with modpos. I used Clipboard Resurrection for copying some larger parts of the roof which consists of many individual pieces but I avoid it for small tasks because it always crashes the game (anywhere between immediately and an hour later).
Do you use any kind of guide pieces to keep things locked in tight?
Rarely. The closest to guide pieces that I do regularly is using simple walls (e.g. ShellKit interior) to define the layout of a house before building the real walls with more complex one-sided kits like the Interior kits.
Thanks for the response! Aligning to Z makes so much sense. No more calculator and now it feels like I have an invisible grid for the pieces. I find myself using the warehouse ext set pieces as guides in a similar fashion as you use the interior walls.
Can't wait to see what you come up with next. It's always inspiring.
used conquest & clipboard and follwowd your instructions and all went to plan, awesome mod feels like the bar has been lifted, great talent & design on your part, now tracking your work.
Looks gorgeous, but doesn't work with Settle Anywhere at all unfortunately. It says it needs Conquest.esp and I could not find a fix for it. Love your work as always though!
Oh, wow, I thought Clipboard would work out of the box with different workshop IDs and plugins but apparently it doesn't. It writes the workshop ID into the pattern.ini and checks it on "Move to Pattern Source Location" (instead of checking that the location is within the boundaries of the current workshop). Pasting the pattern works even when the workshop doesn't match.
It looks like manually removing the workshop reference from the file (and pointing the now unused plugin reference to Fallout4.esm as a dummy) does the trick. You get a warning about the missing workshop when moving to the source location, but it still moves correctly and it imports without problems. I've updated the download with a new version.
Hey thanks for the update! Unfortunately, it's still not working with Transfer Settlements and Settle Anywhere though. Still says Conquest.esp is missing once I hit import. I could just add Conquest mid-save, but the bug list is a bit daunting on that page...haha
I fixed the Clipboard version. I assumed that's what you're using. For Transfer Settlements you need to follow the instructions for using a different settlement. It should work equally well for non-Conquest settlements, but do check the worldspace_* fields in the "header" section while replacing the workshop entry. They may be different (in which case you need to use the version from your exported settlement).
After following instructions it no longer asks for Conquest.esp, but instead instant CTD's every time I hit import. I think I'll just stick with the other settlements you've made for now until I can add Conquest, lol! Thanks for the help though!
Yes, I've had similar experiences with Settle Anywhere and Transfer Settlements. I managed to export some settlements but in other locations it crashed. I wasn't able to import at any location I tried without a crash. Others have had more luck with it. Clipboard worked better with Settle Anywhere when I tested it.
I'm also learning the CK these days (about 7 years late to the party!), but it's quite easy to use for the simple things like building structures. Would be amazing to see the things you can do with it! You clearly have a knack for structural and interior design!
looks great I think though i only got the roof peeping above the mountain as the rest is buried underground I'll have to try it again, can't wait to see a video on how to do this properly
Did you do the "Move To Pattern Source Location" step? This should take you and the clipboard tool high up in the air to the correct location. (Clipboard always crashed when I tried to export from close to the workshop location)
Hey there! I would love to give your wonderful work a try, however, when trying to import the blueprint I‘m getting a message saying Conquest was missing. Without it I can’t transfer your blueprint, it’s marked as hard requirement. However, I much prefer Settle Everywhere... Is there something you might do about it?
I recommend using Clipboard. I did some testing with Settle Everywhere + Transfer Blueprints and I couldn't get it to work reliably even in a vanilla game. Exporting worked in many (but not all) locations but it always crashed when I tried to import. Others have had more success though so your mileage may vary. I'm mostly saying that I haven't been able to test it. If you want to continue with Transfer Settlements, see the instructions on the main page for swapping out the "workshop" section of the settlement. In addition to that, "Conquest.esp" is also listed in the "plugins_required" field at the top of the file. You may have have to remove it there (or replace it with "Settle anywhere.esp") as well. Usually TS ignores missing plugins. I don't know why this would prevent importing (after the workshop has been swapped out).
Did you move the clipboard to the source location before pasting? It will paste relative to the clipboard location. If you're trying to paste in a different location, you still need to use the same z orientation for the clipboard (facing exactly west in this case, as far as I remember). I'm routinely using objects with x and y rotations and these can only be built correctly if the z rotation stays the same.

I still cant figure out how to make the garage door to work with switches, a little help?
I'll try to move this build to graygarden would be great to have another one there in a cliff

Does anyone know which mod the exterior white walls are from? The ones with the angle? Or was that just the author rotating them?
Do you think you would ever release this as a plugin mod?
Thank you very, very much for the testing, I really appreciate your kind help! I will try your suggestion, thank you for your detailed reply!
