Too bad the xbox port of this crashes the game to the dashboard as soon as the sound starts to play, consistently every time. No idea why. Doesn't matter where in load order.
That's upto the Xbox author who ported this mod with permission to fix, sounds like perhaps something changed in the filepath or packing with a game update!?
Wow! I haven't played FO4 in a few years, and I'm just getting back into it. In game, I made it as far as heading to the vault, and was taken out of the game by how weak the vertibird over Sanctuary sounded. So I logged out of the game and went looking for a sound replacer. Not only did I find this mod, but it was exactly what I was hoping to find! As it has been mentioned before, this sound is LOUD. I couldn't understand a word anybody said while running to the vault. The only thing I understood was what the guy in the power armor said, and that's because I have a voice changing mod for PA that amplifies the voice. For a moment I was bothered by this, but then I realized that it was very immersive. All of the years I spent in the fire service and EMS, I could never understand anybody when we had a scene landing for a medivac, or when loading patients into a hot bird at the hospital. Amazing mod!! Thank you for providing this mod to the community, and for being part of the team that makes Bethesda games playable! Endorsed!
the sound is great i prefer this over the original but it seems in my game that this sound has no directional movement. it is loud( when the vertibird is coming into view, it sounds like it is right next to me)
The sound is louder then vanilla, it does have directional movement but since i'm no sound engineer :-) the original files do that better. However as you can hear in the video the sound does fade away and grow louder when the Vertibird flies away from or to your position.
I know what you mean, but i lack the skill to fix that issue. I think you mean when you call in a Vertibird it spawns at X distance from you and the sound is loud right away?
The original sounds work in a pack that calls upon different sound files that are either played together or take over from each other is my best guess.
Some of the original sound files i replaced had up to 3 files A-B-C those are seperate sounds sometimes split into rotor - engine - and wind or something. Sometimes the original files had 4 soundfiles of which 3 silent and only 1 with sound when played. There is also a difference in sound "events" that play when you sent the vertibird away and hear the sound fade in the distance and recall it before it's at X range from you. If you recall it before that time you will hear the sound grow louder as it approaches you, like in the video. If you recall it after a certain point the Vertibird spawns in at X distance from you when you call it and yet another soundfile is used.
It all becomes pretty complicated with all those different sound files called upon at different stages, unfortunatly that's beyond my skills and requires alot of knowledge of game sounds and files and effects. I'm far from such a specialist :-)
I ended up fixing the sound. I gave it what was needed for the directional to be just like it did in the vanilla. I also took the liberty of balancing the volume out a little bit as well. I gave it my own personal touch so that when I'm flying the vertibird it will play old war tunes. (C.C.R: Born on the bayou, Rolling Stones: Gimme Shelter; and many more. The music plays on a real time loop and has the vertibird sound mixed in just like being on a real bird. (I did this for myself but am willing to share with your permission.)
Once you downloaded it it's yours to do with as you like, just dont share wihtout permission :-) :-) :-) :-)
And yes, i would be very much obliged if you would share how you fixed the directional. As for adding music that should not be to hard for anyone willing to learn, i have a couple of sound files with different music merged for different profiles/characters.
But fixing the directional issue you mentioned i think should be incorperated in the base mod just for quality.
The sound has been balanced to perfection. Be for I started altering these for improvement I noticed that when I was on the ground and the bird was at least 40 feet away up in the air and it sounded like it was right on top of me. (that was fixed) I am going to test it some more and when I receive permission from you to share. I will upload it and give you credit.
Pauloslj2000 is right. Best way to fix the volume is to use a sound media program. Here is one of the best free out there as of today. Audacity : https://www.audacityteam.org
Unfortunately I can not share the audio files that I am currently using. I have edited these files with war tunes such as Lynard Skynard, The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Hyndrix, CCR, etc. (can't share due to copy rights) I have added these into my personal game so that way everytime I get on a bird these songs will play making me feel like im on a real chopper heading out on a mission.
Having served in a aviation regiment (DELTA 227th AVN RGT, Ft Hood, TX, - 86' - 89' MOS - 31V), I was the commo tech on our crew chief's team, and the one thing I loved was getting rides on the Huey. When I saw that this mod would take the sounds of the Huey, I had to check it out for myself. Sure enough, as I heard the engine revving up and going, I was in flashback city. This brought some good (and not so good) memories back, and I can say, of all the choices I've made in my life, this was one of the best ones for my life. And believe it or not, I play games like Fallout 4 to help me with my PTSD and depression because I know it's a fantasy game and such. And who doesn't like killing off the bad guys?? TO the the author of the mod, I say, 'HOORAH!!'

Makes vertibirds have a much stronger presence.
By far, my favourite mod of this kind.
Endorsed!
