I'm not entirely sure if the mod isn't working or if I'm installing it wrong. I am putting the .ba2 archive and .esl in the data folder, and the textures/VRAM usage doesn't change.
save in sanctuary, walk to red rocket (my FPS drops when loading the map), close the game, activate the mod and reload the save, walk to red rocket, see that less FPS has dropped (see with Afterburner).
Nice, I spent who knows how long to convert the files with the instructions of the og mod, and today Vortex informed me that it needed to "fix" something. Well, I didn't think much of it so I pressed okay. And now I noticed that it decided to revert the texture files back to default.
Well, I haven't received any noticable errors for playing with the mod now 3 days in total, but can't say the game runs any better though. I haven't viewed my fps in comparison to vanilla so I can't say for sure, but judging by the noticeable frame loss I get in certain areas, it doesn't feel that much better with the mod. I doubt it's because of this patch though, it's because of the base mod.
And in general, I think it fucks up the A Forest mod as some trees are lacking leaves. But I recall seeing a comment somewhere saying that any mod that edits trees causes that issue. Nevermind, it didn't.
Actually, I received quite a bit of crashes because of some mod conflicts, so I had to disable every mod and enable few at a time to see the culprit. When I was doing that, at Sanctuary I had quite a bit of input lag, before I enabled this mod, which improved somewhat after I enabled it. It's not perfect, but it probably helped quite some amount at least judging by the lesser input lag from higher fps.
zmaz, all this mod does is selectively take many of the larger vanilla textures and reduce their size and use better compression. If another mod uses it's own textues it will use it's own. There's no conflicts. I completed the game and played to level 114 using this repack and had no problems and my modest rig (gtx1050ti, i7-3770) stayed pretty much locked on 60fps. It sounds to me like you've got other mod conflicts and/or broken precombines in some mods.
Dude, no offence but you never "finish" fallout mate, you merely completed the main quest line. Now the real game begins, get that nexus in your favorite cause now it's MODDIN' TIME!
Let me understand this... is this a "plug and play" mod? Do I need only to install it through Vortex, enable it and that is it? New textures are already installed?
I thought I had done all that could be done with various mods centered around gaining FPS, such as the removal of certain effects and general performance edits, but this combined with total shadow removal through the ini files--I can actually play Fallout 4 without a constant night mod! It's been so long since I've seen daylight! (In FO4, that is.)
I think you are missing the purpose of T.O.P. It takes the og "Fallout 4" archives and reduces their size. Using T.O.P.'s work files and building a archive out of those just creates a overwrite mod. When modding Fallout 4 you can overwrite any "particular file" in the games 15 texture ba2's with a mods archive (ba2) ONE TIME. So any mod archive that mods a file in the games archives will conflict with "this mod archive" and the games og archive. The game engine will be confused on which of the 3 files in 3 different ba2 archives to use. (Conflicts!) Your not going to get much in performance gain using this mod overwriting the games archives, since they will be loaded first anyway.
T.O.P. is not a mod! It rebuilds the games archives to reduce their size from a total 17.5GB to 10.8GB. Which is a HUGE performance gain in launching it. Doing T.O.P. properly allows mods that have archives to overwrite with no issues at all. If you want to mod Fallout 4 on a potato pc. Do T.O.P. the proper way or use base game overwrite mods. Most are loose file mods so they WILL overwrite anything. Performout is a conundrum, not sure how they got there archives named the same as the games and got away with it. Haven't tried it, but it works I guess. I hear allot of comments on it. I believe it is still a overwrite mod and not game archive rebuild like T.O.P. is.
I think its funny you are calling this "mod" a repack. T.O.P. never was a archive to begin with.
I'm sorry but you're simply wrong on so many levels I hardly know where to begin. Many mods are not loose files btw, and I suggest you spend more time learning modding and how FO4 mods work, re-read how TOP works and what this repack is. And then read all the comments at the original mod and here (not least my other postings). And of course TOP is a mod! Anything which modifies a game (be it through altering, adding to or removing any of its content) is a mod - and in TOP's case it's a mod of the original textures.

I'm shocked how much of a performance boost i got
f*#@ me. I hope this mod works though.
