This is a bat file I've used forever and just never thought to upload it.  It should work fine out of the box.  Personally I use this along side of Amazing Follower Tweaks which has a similar feature, but seems to sometimes not work 100%.  My bat file seems to plug those holes.

So how do you use it?  If you are in your settlement and a random NPC comes wandering through and you are thinking, "Hey, you should stay a while!"  Just approach the NPC, open the Command Prompt via the tilde key next to your escape button and type in BAT MakeAnyNPCaSettler then hit enter.  You have just added the settler keywords and necessary script to that NPC.  You should now be able to select them while in build mode and assign them, or move them to a new location.  NOTE: experimentation has shown you that you need to actually assign the NPC to your settlement (or another settlement) to get all of the keywords and such to stick and work properly.  Don't ask why, I don't know, but they don't work right otherwise.

If you are not at your settlement when you do this?  That is where AFT comes in.  With AFT you face them and active AFT the same way as if you were giving a command to a companion, select the option to import them under "make settler" and it will ask you where you wan to assign them.  Pick your settlement of choice.  Even when using AFT I still use the BAT command anyway because AFT isn't 100% by itself and some of the options seem to be missing for the new settler.  The fact that you are assigning to the initial settlement also means you don't have to do that again later.  They are ready for tatoe farming, or whatever you want to assign them to.

That is pretty much it actually.  If you run into issues feel free to post it in the comments section and I'll help if I can.

INSTALLATION:  It is a simple batch file.  Open the zip file and drop the text doc into your Fallout 4 \ Data folder.  When you need to use it, simply open your console command, click on the desired NPC and type in BAT MakeAnyNPCaSettler.

Compatibility:  As this is just a bat file it should be compatible with anything.

Permissions: This is just a bat file.  You are welcome to use it as you wish, change it how you want, redistribute it, tell other people it was your idea if you want to, etc.  No credit needs to be give.  Just enjoy it.

Honestly I don't recall the original forum thread (or even what site) where I discovered the source coding for this file, but I can say that I'd like to give a shout out to Omegacron for helping to make this "mod" better.  He discovered that my file would benefit from adding an additional line of coding to improve it's functionality.  Without his input version 1.2 would not exist.
