Compatible mods: Most weather mods don't modify the basic clear weather (like True Storms, NAC or Radiant Clouds and Fogs). These mods are compatible with my mod.
Mods that don't need this mod: Some mods make huge changes to the basic clear weather (like Polluted Climate). If you have this, you don't need my mod.
Not 100% compatible mods: There are mods that make small adjustments to basic clear weather (like NAC X or Vivid Weathers). Here we don't have 100% compatibility, but there are options:
- Option 1 (easiest): Load my mod after weather mod. This way, the basic clear weather will look like vanilla but will have "distant mist" from this mod. There probably isn't much of a difference with your weather mod (but with a little haze added), a clear day is a clear day.
- Option 2 (patching): Install both mods, and load weather mod and this mod in FO4Edit. In this mod, go to the weather and select "CommonwealthClear". Go to right panel, and look for "FNAN - Fog distance" (this section will have red background). Copy values in "FNAN - Fog distance" section from this mod to the weather mod plugin (edit values on weather mod plugin column). Press Ctrl+S to save changes to weather mod plugin. Unninstall my mod. Done! You have patched your weather mod to have distant mist on clear days.
I don't have any particle overhauls installed and iMaxDesired is set to a manageable value of 2000 in fallout4prefs.ini.
I do use True Storms and NAC-X, but I'm wondering if this mod may be causing the CTDs in exterior zones (fog is disabled for interiors). Is fog considered a particle system?
I haven't had any crashes yet since disabling this mod, but that may be coincidental. Thoughts appreciated.
Fog are not particles. It is a couple of large meshes. In fact, the is always fog. This mod doesn't add fog, only modifies the distance and the opacity.
Thanks for the clarification. I think I nailed the issue down to some NVFlex records in the ini files that shouldn't have been there with an RTX GPU. This seemed to override the Weapon Debris Crash Fix mod and cause the particle engine to crash.
I came looking exactly something like this (to reduce distant ugliness by masking it.) Is there any way I can talk you into making some even heavier versions?
It may be very easy. For example, replacing "clear" weather with "foggy" weather. Do you can use FO4Edit? If interested, I can make a small tutorial ;)
Well, there are games that use fog to avoid have to render a lot of objects. But anyway I think some "fog" is necessary to get a good depth effect, like in real life (distant objects have less contrast because of the effect of the atmosphere). Check first screenshot (vanilla settings), the fog are light and distant, and it makes a nice effect.
i was just looking at luxor's videos and noticed he had a similar effect. i wondered if there was a mod that did this and if so, what is it? then poof! here you are with this fine mod. thanx :)
That might just be exactly what I'm searching for.
Since I reinstalled my LO from scratch using NACX instead of the old NAC I seem so have lost this Fog effect. It appeared expecially prominent in forests.
Whould you mind to upload 5 versions for each season? Blue/green for spring, yellow/green for summer, yellow/orange for autumn and white for winter. Subtle, Lite, Medium, Strong, Intensifies.
Hi I'm afraid is not 100% compatible, but there are options.

Option 2: Install both mods, and load "Vivid Weathers - FO4.esp" and this mod in FO4Edit. In this mod, go to the weather and select "CommonwealthClear". Go to right panel, and look for "FNAN - Fog distance" (this section will have red background). Copy values in "FNAN - Fog distance" section from this mod to the Vivid plugin (edit values on Vivid plugin column). Press Ctrl+S to save changes to Vivid plugin. Unninstall this mod. Done! You have patched the Vivid mod to have distant mist on clear days.

Making and testing 20 plugins would take a lot of time. Check sticky post, you can easily patch a weather mod to have mist.
I hope this helps!
Yes, it will help. Thank you! :)
I confused NAC with NAC X
Please check sticky post
