Yup, that's why dicsaw's "Immersive Main Menu" is mentioned on this mod page four times, lol.

Hi, It shouldn't be deleted if you installed it with a mod manager and uninstall this mod via it, I only use Mod Organiser 2 so if you are using something else and it still isn't restoring the original "mus_maintheme.xwm" file then I am not sure why that is.

If you installed this mod manually, so you overwritten the games original mus_maintheme.xwm file with my modified one, and you also have no backup on your PC of your Fallout 4's original mus_maintheme.xwm, then your best bet would be to delete this mods "mus_maintheme.xwm" file (if it's there). Then repair / verify the games files with steam, it'll redownload and replace the missing mus_maintheme.xwm with the original Fallout 4 file.

However this may break some other mods (if you have any other mods installed manually too) if they have replaced any other original Fallout 4 files as Steam will detect that they are modified and replace them with the Fallout 4 originals. If this is the case then you would have to back up your entire install file as it is right now, delete the backed up "mus_maintheme.xwm" file (if there is one). Then repair / verify the game install via Steam. Finally copy back all of your backed up modded files and overwrite the other ones Steam replaced.

Hope this makes sense. Bit of a faff but there is no way to share original Bethesda game files legally sorry so I can't just send you the original.

Going forward with mods I would recommend backing up any original Fallout 4 files before replacing them, and using a mod manager to install mods where possible.

I love it! Thank you for this

For some reason the only way I could get the sound to work was replacing MUS_MainTheme.xwm in the vanilla Startup and Sounds.ba2 files with Archive2, in case anyone else follows all the steps and still can't get it

Glad you like it, though I'm honestly not sure why it didn't work out of the box for you. At least you figured it out!

I'm also getting the same issue, I'll try the archive2 fix.

Make sure you backup the vanilla ones first just in case

Coming in here quite late with this fix but I guess it's never too late to start a new playthrough. I also had this problem, and it turns out it's because the description of this mod is missing a crucial step that dicsaw's "Immersive Main Menu" mod does describe.

      • Go to ...\Documents\My Games\Fallout 4 and open Fallout4.ini
      • Find the following line: sResourceDataDirsFinal

      • Then change it to: sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, MUSIC\,

Do the above edit straight up or via MO2 and the audio should work just fine without the need to replace anything.

@Firefly222, thanks for pointing that out. I had the sResourceDataDirsFinal step in the description but for some reason forgot to add the "STRINGS\, MUSIC\," bit. My mistake! Well spotted and thanks for sharing. I have updated the description with those details.

Hey! Thanks for an amazing work.
Although I am even moodier than moody and would like to ask if it's possible you can put up a dark+rain+windy version? I'd much appreciate and endorsed!
    Kind regards, Heo

I've been meaning to replace the stale (and often times laggy for some reason) vanilla intro for a while but never got around to it. I was about to go for the inkspots version, but clicked on the second video and heard Sam Yung's amazing lowkey, almos lofi vibe of the original theme and I'm kind of blown away tbh. It's so good, especially distorted through the radio. Endorsed for sure.

Quick question though, why are the files so large? Not a huge deal, just curious

Hey thanks, for the files sizes I don't really know why they ended up so large, I could've tweaked the settings used in Rad Video Tools when converting the videos but it takes so long on my PC to convert them that I really didn't want to do a bunch of trial and error.

I ended up using the settings VulKenZ recommended in the comments of their mod page, "4K Main Menu Cinematic Replacement" and the videos just turned out the size that they did. Though I might do some tinkering down the line and see if I can get them smaller with minimal quality loss.

I love this mod so much, man. It works wonderfully, and I think it's so much better than the OG opening. No issues at all. There was only one time the normal music played when I pressed a button on my controller when I first opened the game. Thank you and bless you brother 8^)

No problems on my end ;-) Great mod, BTW, love it how the radio turns itself on. Endorsed.
