Doesn't appear to work? Puddles in the Vault still reflect the sky? It fixes some puddles, but not all of them. For some it just removes the reflection/cubemap entirely...
Puddle flicker/switching seems gone and Codsworth eyes and body seem uneffected (other mods cause white glass in his eyes and his body to lose reflection on metals) so far. However the metal reflection issue is fickle and may still show up.
But so far this is the best sollution i have tried to the puddle problem. Tested with ENB running.
WARNING: Do NOT let Vortext revert the dates on the vanilla files. Or this mod will be overwritten. Youll have to ignore Vortex crying about it. I kinda wish this mod just used empty files to override the old ones instead of tempering with base BA2 archives. Although, I am not sure that would even work in this situation.
I found something pretty crazy if you use the cube map WindowDisabled_MetalChrome02Cube_e.dds from https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/43458?tab=posts it actually seems to serve the same purpose as Textures\Shared\Cubemaps\mipblur_DefaultOutside1.dds. from ablaze's fix, including making codsworth grey.
it is because game will load cubemaps or will not load them it is almost 50% of time you can try it load game 10x and watch how many times game will load cubemaps properly, never finded reason for this...
Looks like the game loads cubemaps from Fallout4 - Startup.ba2 or from actual textures, whichever is selected first by the engine. I don't know why it's one or the other, maybe ssd speed dependent or due to script lag? Anyway it seems as the best solution would be to have same cubemaps in Fallout4 - Startup.ba2 and in Data/Textures. And don't compress Fallout4 - Startup.ba2 for DDS, looks like this archive is uncompressed for quicker access.
