I just wanted to give an update on where things are at. I've talked to many of the mod authors and I am working on getting the new mods added. Further to this I wanted to credit CCMADS, the creator of many amazing mods, not the least of which is "Settlement Objects Expansion Pack". CCMADS was one of the first to tackle this rain occlusion issue. If it wasn't for their initial work I wouldn't be here doing this.
The glass roof fixes for cVc Dead Wasteland, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/43818, Won't be added to my mod, cVcNEX is going to add these to the next update of cVc Dead Wasteland.
One thing life teaches is that no matter how prepared one is, once a plan is in motion there are things that need to be tweaked further.
I'm going to make new versions of some the patches I have here with meshes that use a custom material so glass windows in the game don't glow at night. Many of the glass meshes for windows use the same materials as the glass roofs do. This glowing is part of the trade off for stopping the rain and snow from falling through until a fix is found, many have tried and are still looking at this.
Some of the glass roof meshes don't use materials so I don't need to add an update to those.
I have updated all the files that use materials in the meshes. Future patches to mods on my to do list will have a custom material.
Just a note, the Main files are designed to only have the changes made to the glass roof meshes so any windows in the main mod, that use the same materials, won't be affected. This so the windows won't glow at night and still allow for foggy weather to still look foggy when you look through the window. These files use the tweaked material with "_GR" added to name and the meshes point to that renamed material. Some mods, like Settlement Objects Expansion Pack, have material swaps in the main ESP so I needed to create patch ESP so these material swaps still function.
The Optional files use the tweaked material with the name of the material unchanged. This option will cause other glass, like windows, that use the same materials to glow at night and foggy weather will not look as foggy when you look through a window.
Love the mod. There's a newer version of Concrete Walls with Window Glass. Just wondering if there's any chance of it being included? Custom Concrete with Glass https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22425.
If, however, it should be working, wonder what I've done lol. Still getting very wet under it!
I adore this mod but the many options are overwhelming. Could you do an installer that lets you pick the packs you want / tells you what you have installed?
Im just worried of picking the wrong thing and having it all go a bit wrong. <.<
That said, it doesn't seem to be working for me as I'm still getting rained on through Homemaker's Institute glass floors. My weather mod is True Storms.
I've tried both the "glowing" and "non-glowing" variants for Homemaker and neither seem to work. Note that I've *only* downloaded the Homemaker files as that is all I'm using from your list of files.
Do you mean the Homemaker, INSTITUTE GLASS FLOOR, in the HOMEMAKER>STRUCTURES>INSTITUTE>FLOORS AND STAIRS section? The floor with the six sided design? If so then I can add that as it wasn't part of my original mod.
Huh, this was explicitly what I was interested in. I set up a massive institute-y glass settlement on Spectacle Island (I call it the Lens - no throwing stones, changing rooms are in the basement). My settler's beds getting soaked pushed me not to take the idea as far as it could go. Now? ... Looks like I've more renovation to do.
If you've been on Nexusmods enough, you might have realized that you can't delete your own posts. However, there is an option to edit old posts. So, when someone makes a post and decides later that they want to delete that post, they will edit their post and replace the contents with something similar to "deleted". That's what I've done here. This is not commentary about the mod.
Yeah, it can seem disrespectful if people don't know that you can't delete your comment. Amateur modders do negatively discuss mods by simply saying the very same as well however, which makes things all the more confusing for newer Nexus goers.
There is a mod called The Kuro Tab that adds transparent corrugated plastic panels to build with, any chance you could take a look at making a patch for them?
I've asked the mod author for the Kuro Tab a few times for permission to add their mod to this. They have never got back to me. The only thing I can suggest is watch my video on how to mod the files your self and make your own edits. I'm very sorry but unless I get permission from the mod author there is nothing I can do. The link to my tutorial is on the description page.
I made some waterproof glass. Understand that people with low-end graphics cards will see solid black. Might wanna put that on your front page. I tested this myself. I lowered the graphics in my game & everwhere I had waterproofing that had glass was black. Solid objects that had waterproofing were fine.
Depends, some of the mods here are just replace the loose meshes and materials, the game version doesn't matter. Others I use an esp with materials and meshes to have them work properly. I run the newest version of the game so when I make an esp to go with the meshes and materials, the esp is based on the newest version of the game, Ver. 1.10.163.0.
The windows on the left block rain, fog looks still foggy through them and they don't have that weird blue glow either. The windows to the right are regular, with no rain blocking feature, for comparison. Weather outside is foggy.
Yeah, the fog thing is probably hardwired into the watershader or something. Oh well. Anyway, here's how to get rid of the blue glow: 1) Do NOT clear Effect_Lighting flag on the glass EffectShader 2) Set Soft_Effect and Soft_Lighting on the WaterShader 3) Profit!!!
Cool, I tried the not clear the Effect Lighting, but the glass turned black. I'll tweak some of my files with your fix and test.
EDIT: When I turned the Effect Lighting back on in the material, if the mesh used a material, I got black windows. If the mesh didn't use a material and turned on the Effect Lighting in mesh, I got black windows.

Am I missing something?
If you can add that, that would be awesome!
Thank you in advance.
Thank you so much for your mod, and your quick response. This has made my month! :-)
Neat.

But turns out far away fog is still kinda transparent :| well, at least no weird blue glow!
Anyway, here's how to get rid of the blue glow:
1) Do NOT clear Effect_Lighting flag on the glass EffectShader
2) Set Soft_Effect and Soft_Lighting on the WaterShader
3) Profit!!!
