- This mod was an old experiment and learning project to see what I could do, but never really went anywhere and is no longer something I want to use myself. In particular, there are fundamental problems with this mod involving object placement and respawning that cannot be addressed well using any existing solutions. As such, I am discontintinuing all future support for it. You can still use this mod if you want. I'm fully aware that this mod has some fans, and I don't make a habit of deleting my mod pages anyway.
I've preserved the original description below:
- Have you ever been clearing a dungeon, saw something you wanted to pocket, and noticed that all you could do was kick it around? Maybe you've tripped over something in the wasteland and decided you wanted to take it home and scrap it, only to realize the worst you can do is bounce it around by shooting it a bit. No more! With this mod, a wide variety of new, junky options open up. Pocket the Commonwealth, one piece of trash at a time.
FEATURES
So much more junk!
- Many, many movable and breakable objects have been converted into junk that you can pocket and scrap for materials.
- Precombines are preseved. This means that some items this mod would replace don't get changed out. The alternative is a mod like Commonwealth Cleanup and a massive drop in FPS.
- No random jumping and jittering, no breakdancing across a courtyard. Not even pre-broken breakables.
- This means that a radioactive barrel stays radioactive instead of turning a boring brown.
- Canvases no longer mysteriously lose their art in your pocket.
FAQ
- How do I start using this mod?
- Just install it! So long as you have F4SE installed, this mod will do its magic from the moment you start the game.
- It seamlessly replaces thousands of items across the commonwealth with new junk items based on them. This makes it so you can actually pocket a great many things and take them home with you. You can sell them, display them, or break them down for scrap.
- Never uninstall this mod, big junk redux, or mods like it! Because of how these mods work, uninstalling them will leave areas you've visited much more empty than they were before! Some areas will eventually reset and respawn the things you've lost, but others will not. If you insist on changing from a similar mod to this one in an existing save, keep the original mod and make sure this one loads after it. Please be aware that this won't work for Commonwealth Cleanup, which replaces the affected objects before this mod can even touch them.
- Please don't! This mod works by replacing the game's original objects with new, collectible ones. Removing this mod from a save will remove the new objects but not re-add the original objects, which leaves them gone until the cells reset. Some places, like settlements, never reset at all. If you're not sure you want this mod, make sure to back up a save before you try it.
- If this mod isn't compatible with another mod you use, you're welcome to make a patch. You can even post the patch to Nexus if you want! If making the patch isn't something you're familiar with doing, you could also post a request to the mod request board. I can't reasonably account for all possible mod compatibility issues, and mostly just make mods I'd love to use on my next playthrough.
SPECIAL THANKS
- Thank you to GhengisKhanX/LeahTheUnknown for graciously allowing me to use many of the item names and material lists implemented for Big Junk Redux.
