Thank you so much for this. I'm running W-bash to manage my the non-VR version. All the masers are painted red -and an error message attached to each master. Arg. Researched - and getting ready to do the extraction thingy, yada.. and dreading it. Used W Bash to install your strings folder. Now all the red on the masters is gone. Yea! Thank you.
BTW, I'm running the non VR version, and the string folder works fine. Turns out when I edit out the "vr" part of the string name - it duplicates a string name already there. So, your help works for both VR and non-VR. Again, thank you. :) ... ... Whats a 'pancake' game? EDIT - nm, it's a non vr game?
The bug causing this issue has been fixed in the WIP builds available from WB's Discord & forum thread on AFK Mods & will therefore be fixed in the next release. The issue was that Bethesda changed the default value of sLanguage (used to determine which strings to use) from English to en in Fallout 4. This issue doesn't appear to be as common in FO4 as it is apparently explicitly set to en by default, so WB reads that & looks for the correct string files. Since it apparently isn't explicitly set in FO4 VR, WB defaults to the old default of English & looks for the wrong string files. You can therefore simply set sLanguage to en in the [General] section of your main INI (or use the latest WIP build) to resolve this without installing or extracting any files.
I just want to say thank you. I had a fresh install of Fallout 4 with all DLC (non VR), all fresh mods and Wyre Bash game me the missing strings BS. After deleting the VR ones in your file, I extracted the rest to strings folder. Know what was the problem? In my folder they "English" was abbreviated "en" and Wyre bash worked once I extracted these. Weird.
While I'm glad to hear that this works in pancake, I have absolutely no idea why the pancake game has this problem too, as I assumed this wouldn't have changed in the base game.
Seeing as Wrye bash is designed to work with pancake fallout 4, there should be no reason for you to need it in the pancake game.
That said, if you are getting the same localisation errors with wrye bash then this should work with the pancake game too *in theory*. You'd have some extra VR strings you don't need in the package, but that shouldn't be an issue. I don't know if the base game strings were changed for the VR version of the game (which is where these strings come from) so use at your own risk. I don't play pancake FO4 so I can't really confirm anything myself.
I just manually deleted the VR and survival eating strings and manually put the rest in my Strings folder. Worked like a charm. Check to see if your strings folder has "English" abbreviated as "en". Maybe just change those as the ones in this file are all "English".
