Straight up didn't work, can't fill it anywhere. I suspect I have a conflict, modding is walking on eggshells sometimes, my load order isn't crazy mostly vanilla plus stuff. I expect it's something like Thrive Redone which affects water healing. Just want some kind of refillable canteen mod that is simple, works, and also keeps the change from Thrive where water does not heal HP, based on how Thrive edits water affects(edits them directly not by a script) I'm guessing that doesn't exist currently because these extra water sources in mods won't be accounted for.
Thank you for the mod! hope you don't mind me asking, there is IAF animation for Canteens does this mod use it? also does it fill the canteen with dirty water which then u have to purify or is it always clean?
Hmm. So the .esl version doesn't work because the script doesn't recognize what you're doing. Is that what you meant about changing it to ESL? The script would stop working? Unfortunate if so. I have a few points that jumped out at me when I was using it:
First, the sound effect. When you fill or drink from it, the audio file that plays sounds like you're dropping a ten ton weight. It's obnoxious for something as simple as using a canteen. Is there a quieter sound effect you could have used? Maybe an actual "metal cap opening" sound?
Another point that occurred to me was maybe the canteen should be in the Aid category instead of Misc. That makes it easier to find, considering what it does.
The last thing that occurred to me was the number of uses. Currently, the canteen is good for one drink. Should it have say, 5 uses before it runs dry? Or should it auto-satisfy the drink requirement like the Vault 13 canteen did back in the day? Divided on that one. I liked the Vault 13 canteen, but it kinda made the entire desert survival thing a joke, because it trivialized water the moment you had it in inventory. But multiple charges on a fill gives you time while spelunking in a vault.
There is already a mod that has a multiple use canteen, but in order to do so it has to take out an empty item then replace it full ones then when you fill it, then replace the 3 with 2 when you take another sip etc, the script is based on weight.
This one is a single use but you can fill it at taps etc and using the bottle system.
Amazing mod man brilliant work please would you be able to port this over to xbox it’s just what i needed for my play through would be awesome to have it on console
hey sorry to be a pain just tested it out on xbox can craft it at the chemistry station but doesn’t have a skin and shows up invisible couldn’t take water from a water pump but that’s okay as it lets me fill it from base water sources like rivers and lakes and stuff
True, weighing mine, I'm thinking 0.4lbs empty, 1 lbs full. Also if you're gonna give a criticism like something being too heavy, a suggestion would be much appreciated. Thank you!
