" I also added a lot of songs by the rock band "Kino" (Viktor Tsoi), which is quite iconic in the post-Soviet space, but I have no idea what the reaction of a foreign listener to such an unusual sound might be."
I'm a 50-year old American, I grew up in the 80's in a house where the Cold War was never far from our minds. Maybe that makes me predisposed towards wanting to understand the Russian mindset but I absolutely love this music. I'm nearing 300 hours in FO4, very nearly all of which has used this station for music, and as far as I'm concerned THIS is the soundtrack of the Commonwealth.
I love it, very good music here ! Kinda takes me back to the 80's when i was a punkrocker, used to listen to Joy Division and Crass, and these songs here have a lot in common with them, but the Russian vibe is really adding a extra dimension to the music, i'm so glad i tried it out. I actually got curious cause i liked the Radio stations in STALKER (i know, it's Ukranian but for us dumbass Europeans it sounds kinda similar).
Thanks a lot for this !
I only wish i could understand Russian. Currently learning Japanese, but i think i'll add Russian to the list too.
Well, in this case, I can only suggest to watch the movies i mentioned in the description. I think you can find a version with English subtitles. Believe me, It's worth it. You won't find such a realistic atmosphere(and yet grim but beautiful) in cinema anymore, its kinda unique.
