Just want to say thank you for doing this. I loved the project, but it was super ambitious for my skill level at the time (my first mod) and I'm so happy that someone with more skill at modding could make an updated and improved version.
You're doing great work here. Thank you! I edited the original mod's page to provide a big link to this mod.
Killable Children is not compatible with Start Me Up, Use Immersive Killable Children with Size Fix or Mortal Youths.
Disable True Damage at the start. Only enable them after you're already loaded into Commonwealth. True Damage will cause Infinite Loading Screen when enabled before character creation but otherwise it is compatible.
Wait a few minutes in the bathroom before you walk out if you have a lot of mods.
Horizon Patch is not compatible with version 7.0+ and is now removed. I will not make them again, but if you want to make a patch. DM me and I'll help you with how to make them.
Mod Organizer 2 is recommended as the mod manager to be used with Start me Up. Start Me Up is very sensitive to load order and it's much easier to arrange load order with MO2 than Vortex.
You cannot talk to Nick Valentine and start Reunions if you haven't listened to the holotape from Vault 111. This is not a bug, it's a quest.
Baka Framework, SPID, and MAIM is now perfectly compatible with Start Me Up Redux since the Baka Framework update 1.9.0, but True Damage will cause Infinite Loading Screen if enabled
- Please read the description page thoroughly -
More information about the mod can be read in the >>> original Start Me Up page Original Start Me Up will conflict with Start Me Up Redux, do not download it
Not compatible with Next Gen Update - I'll update it when more mods get updated for Next Gen, I want mod ecosystem to become more stable first. but the good news is that Reunion quest fix is coming
Further focus on bug fixes will be - Various issues during Reunion and Dangerous Mind. - Ending slides does not change for non-vanilla characters. - Copies of player character appearing in Dangerous Mind in alternate start. Instead of default Nate/Nora.
These will take a while since there's a lot of scripting edit involved and I'm budy.
What I want to update - Redo Codsworth dialogues, new affinity conversation for alternate start characters
Non-Start Me Up but related dialogue mods - Post-Blind Betrayal Danse dialogue mods
A new version of Fallout 4 is coming and therefore F4SE has to be updated again. I'll wait it until the end of the year at this point until I update my mod
Current version works with next gen barring some bugs.
Downgrade your game and use older version of UFO4P for now.
I can't update the next gen patch without many of my mods breaking, that's why. and I'm too busy to redo my modlist for temporary patching. So when the major mods are pulling out their updates, I'll follow through
Apologies if this has already been discussed, but 67 pages of comments takes time to wade through.
I've found a problem with Nick Valentine's quest Long Time Coming. In this quest, Nick talks about an old-time criminal, Eddie Winter. In vanilla, in the player's first dialog after Nick names Winter, the second dialog option has the player say "Eddie Winter was from... my time. A real scumbag." You can see it as a response to Nick's dialog line 2170 here.
Unfortunately, this has just come up in my wastelander's playthrough.
for some reason when I choose the start with the cryo pod, the scripted thing that forces you out of it is not happening, so I have no choice but to choose the start that spawns me near vault 111.
Kinda sad the MQ101radio quest is effectively silenced as soon as the startmeup quest starts, I think it would make more sense to use the setstage 100 for it if you picked any option other than "This is a memory. Let's stay here a while." on the 1st message box from this mod. (it stops as part of the MQ101 quest, if you choose to stay)
That can be done, I'll see if it's better to leave it like it is now, or change it to that method, because I wanted to minimize scripting load during the startup sequence. but to be fair, anything outside alt-start has been considered obsolete features in Start Me Up that's simply supported because I inherited the mod from TinyManticore
I don't even recommend people to use 'This is a memory, I don't want to relive this'/Quick Start option of SMU anymore even and I'll tell everyone to go use SKK Fast Start instead because of the amount of quest edits SMU has... Things have changed since 2017 and these features have become obsolete for serious playing, and from now on I'll mainly focus on (both) 'This is a dream' options.
In the next version (will be a while because the next official Fallout 4 update is coming, based on steamDB, and job hell that plagued my life now) I'll try to kill more MQ101 quests that needed to be killed, optimize what has to be done, etc.
But you're quite knowledgable with scripting, much better than me even, I'll give your a prop for that. If you don't mind, I'll ask for some advice later on.
It's weird having Codsworth still referring to me as the person he once knew before the war, but my headcanon is he's just defective. 200 some odd years milling about Sanctuary Hills and then being pummeled by people down in Concord knocked something loose. So my Sole Survivor just humors him for the sake of not having to deal with the headache of explaining it constantly.
Yep that was the way they were going with originally, I might actually add something to it because technology made it semi possible to change Codsworth lines now
There seems to be a conflict with DLC Timing. Start Me Up Redux has the Nuka World quest popup when starting a new game. Any help with a fix? I'm using The Midnight Ride guide if that helps with anything. It's only a minor gripe so no rush.
I don't know if you're still looking into this, but I have a similar issue on Xbox as well. Not only that, but the Normal/XDI version of SMUR and the patches associated are completely missing as well. Luckily I favorited the FDI version and patches prior to them being removed, but I still wish that they were available for others to download, as this mod should be enjoyed by all, regardless of platform. Although, I do wish it was updated recently (on Xbox) with the changes made in at least 7.4, if not at least 7.2 (I want to do an Enclave Remnant playthrough, but that was only re-added during 7.2).
Did you manage to get into contact with OddLittleTurtle? I don't want to contact them if they're already aware of the issue. But if they are busy, I would love to know that as well. I am patient, but I would want to know if the issue is being looked at, rather than just assume that it is.
They seem to show up if you use the links directly from his page but they will not show up in any searches which is frustrating because my Bethesda.net mods library is not showing up on my Series X even though I have them "downloaded" and favorited. I tried starting a new game without the Nuka World patch (because I can't find it on Xbox) and everything seemed to work as normal but after making all my choices, "Enough, I'm ready to wake up" simply didn't appear so I was stuck in character creation limbo.
This mod is literally the only way I play the game now so you can understand that I'm eagerly awaiting some help or a fix. Thanks.
I checked it on my end, and doesn't look like it updated to the newest version. I also checked the in-game mod search, as well as the Bethesda Mods site: the FDI patches of the mod, as well as the Normal/XDI version and patches are still missing. Like I said in my reply before, this really isn't an issue for me since I've already installed and favorited them before, but unfortunately new/returning players would be unable to install it.
Since OddLittleTurtle handles the console port of SMUR, I don't think it is your fault/responsibility (not saying it is his either, since really this issue started after the Next-Gen Update), but I wanted to let you know just in case.
Minor oversight, at the start with the 'This is a dream->I entered a pod in the Vault' path, the starter console shows Nate as "released" via remote control while the player character is logged in as dead due to asphyxiation.

That's just my thought on it.

i do use unique player to differs my character meshes from other wastelanders, could this be a problem?
