Hey guys, I compressed the sound down to a reasonable size while retaining quality. Also, the combat and environmental tracks are now split between two archives in case you only want exploring music, battle music, or both.
EDIT: I also added a small battle finale sound, a sonar beep of sorts. Source: http://soundbible.com/1133-Beep-Ping.html
Doesn't work. At least not anymore using the same instructions and after changing the file dates as well :(
EDIT: I've managed to make this mod work. First I had to install and enable Classic Fallout Ambient Music which is technically an almost identical mod, but sadly doesn't replace the generic combat music. So just as an experiment I have then enabled this mod via NMM and voila! Now "Khans of New California" play each time combat begins. Music to my ears - literally ;)
Just passing through to say that this mod does still work in 2018. However, you have to update the timestamps on the music folder and the .xwm files within in order for FO4 to recognize the files. The current method of archive invalidation relies on bInvalidateOlderFiles, which, as the name implies, requires that the loose files be newer than the ones in the BA2.
Could you make this please an ADDITION to the original music but not a replacement? I like the vanilla music but I would love to listen to the F1+2 music as well.
Hey! I cannot extract your archive it spams with weird errors, not sure why. Tried WinRAR and standard Windows Explorer ZIP extraction feature... Also my file is 223 MB (234 586 606 bytes) and your is 229 Mb. Manually re-downloaded it twice with same results.
Nice to see that this mod is back. I always did prefer this one to the other "Classic Music" mods, since it was a replacer. Speaking of which, why was the original mod taken down a while ago? (November-ish)
One of the moderators (who shall remain nameless) didn't get that the tracks were Public Domain, EVEN THOUGH TWO OTHER [Classic Music Replacement] MODS HAD ALREADY BEEN IN EXISTANCE HERE FOR OVER A WEEK, but I'm not mad since the owner of the site personally apologized to me and another high ranking member has gotten the mods to not be so trigger happy.
Although to be fair, I sorta shouldn't have had the sound bit from Fallout 1 (the level up noise) in the mod as a replacement for the combat ending music. Still, it's all settled and the mod is now here to stay.
And to be fair, I always did find the level-up ding at the end of the combat music to be a bit of an odd choice. So, is it still there or has the sound byte been replaced?
Huh. Now the combat ending music is a leftover of the base game's, which doesn't properly match the Great Khans combat music. Think you could do something about that?
Plus, the point where the combat track cuts off and loops is also very noticeable and sudden.
I'll find a more suitable ending track that works. Also, the looping issue I think has to do with the fact that there are three combat music classes in Fallout 4's code. There's the regular, boss, and 'low', the latter being I think for when you're sneaking and get into a 'CAUTION' state.
Sorry to say, but even if that other mod didn't exist, I'd haven't the slightest idea how to add new music in. Lucky for us, user Zako1989 figured it out.
They replace. I think there's a supplemental version with these made by someone else on the Nexus already. However, their version is more complex to install. This is a simple replacer.

EDIT: It appears the site is down for now. Odd.
EDIT #2: The site is back up. Must have been a temporary outage.
