Is there a way to achieve this for guards on guard mat/post?

I would really like to know this aswell. I prefer to use guard rugs and i'd like to equip my guards with cool weapons that's actually visible. That's primarily the only reason I want a visible weapons mod

Please, tell me they don't wander around the settlement pointing their guns at the air. Some of my settlers assigned to guard duty have been doing that lately, they just leave their post and walk like idiots pointing at some invisible entity only they seem to see, it's so damn annoying.

Settlers will walk around with their weapons unholstered, but they shouldn't be aiming at anything.

In Fallout 4, guards will actually patrol between guard posts if there are more guard posts than guards.

See, that's the thing, I have all guard posts manned, but guards will still occasionally move away from them, walk around for a bit aiming at nothing, then return to guard duty after a while. I guess this is your typical NPC erratic behavior Bethesda has gotten us so used to. Remember the Minutemen at The Castle standing like idiots in a guarding stance outside their assigned posts? Yeah, that bug is still cursing my game even after gazillions of patches have been released. Not even the UFO4 patch fixes this.

the aiming action is simply what happens when an actor unholsters a weapon, even player aims for a sec in 3rd person before going into 'calm' mode. I believe this is possible to change with some simple game setting but if I'm mistaken it'd actually require an anim rework
