Version 1.1
Updated article information about modding the apparel on the armor workbench. Added PA helmet modifications to the goggles example mod.
In this article I will explain how to create clothes and accessories, without using any body slots. Attaching the model to the player is done with a magic effect and settings inside the nif file. In the Files you will find a mod with example.
Application: This is just a piece of info I wanted to share. It's not mandatory to use this method to convert apparel. Can be used for simple clothing, backpacks, jetpacks, eyewear and other accessories. The less bones the apparel has, the better. In fact it's best to have apparel painted with only one bone weight.
Positives:
The apparel will not take body slots. You will be able to use it with anything, just mind the clipping.
Tags from sorting mods work.
Negatives:
The apparel can't be modded on the armor workbench. <-- the article was updated with information about this feature
No 1st person model.
Not going to work with body slide-able stuff, due to needing edits to the nif file.
Note: This is kind of quickly thrown, will adjust the info if I find necessary.
