Having an issue with this patch where snow will just randomly disappear out in the open. Not standing inside a building. Not under a roof. Just out in the wilderness.

It's odd because it will only disappear if I look in certain directions and at certain angles. As an example, sometimes it will be like... looking south there will be snowfall as normal, but if I turn west the snow disappears entirely, but then if I'm looking west and look up slightly, it will come back.

Anyone know what might be causing this and if there's a fix? Thanks!

P.s. when the patch is working properly, it is simply amazing! Ty for your work!

I use this with the stayFROSTy modlist to prevent snow from falling inside the walls of fort strong. It seems to work. The snowfall is diferent and more like rain like in the mod description but if you get used to it it seems like normal heavy snow.

The snowfall is still clipping through the celling on some spots with this mod enabled tho.

Could I see your load order? I'm curious how you pulled this off.

How would one go about increasing the area from which the falling show is visible?
For example, when going indoors in sanctuary or redrocket one easily finds spots (about 5 meters from edge of roof or other obstruction) where while standing indoors it looks like snowfront just abruptly stops.
I assume this is due to shader particle geometry, and tried changing box size by factor of 2. While that did increase the distance from which snow fall was rendered it also broke something causing certain directions when faced to not have any snowfall. It seems that either box size can't be increase by arbitrary number OR this isn't the way to do it at all.

So, how would one make the area from which the snowfall effect is visible larger so that one could stand in middle of building and still see snow fall from each window?

Hello 4wnrs6, the problem you describe doesn't depend on the patch or the original mod, you'll notice that in certain areas of the game world it won't snow at all because of known problems cause the Bethesda graphics engine.

I'm aware of this problem and having more than one issues having similar symptoms has been source of moderate frustration whenever trying to find information online.

What I'm referring to in particular with the snow effect disappearing when shader particle geometry has value for box size increased is that snow disappears in consistent manner in given game save, that is not present in same save and spot when loaded without edited value, and then re-appears upon load with modified value. [Decreasing Box Size doesn't seem to cause same issue?]

However, this is besides the point if I could increase the render distance for the snow effect without touching the box size. Any suggestions on how to do that? (Just to be clear, I'm referring here to distance from the Player after which snowfall is no longer rendered, NOT the issue related to snow not being present in certain directions [I added some images here: https://imgur.com/a/1bsZUp9 to clarify*. The snowfront render can be seen moving as I move back and forth, causing it to appear not snowing after ~few yards. Normally this wouldn't be noticeable as the snow closer to player would block the sightline, but if standing in cover like in pictures shown it's quite distracting)
*Edit: Some hopefully better images to demonstrate what I'm referring to; https://imgur.com/a/0vv4kju

On https://geckwiki.com/index.php/EffectShader I found mention about optimization that causes particles de-render before they would become too small to see, and I'm wondering if this could be the cause for the limited render distance (the mentioned "few yards" seems consistent with the distance from which snow rendering stops)? Values affecting this mentioned are "scale, texture coverage and alpha"  but I'm not sure if they could be altered in significant enough degree without affecting the snow visual itself too much, or if it's even applicable.

TLDR: How to make snow render from further away?

Could you at least write a small explanation as to how you fixed it?

You go into great detail when you need help, but the moment you dont...

Would be much appreciated im also having the same issue, of which im quite certain is not possible to fix, due to engine limitations, aka rain in the vanilla game does not fall consistently in all areas of the map at specific angles, where it can appear to just turn off at certain angles, of which i feel is the culprit behind this issue and nobody as far as i know has been able to fix it.

Lol but apparently you have, showed up and said "nvm its fixed".

      Oh yeah? How so?

There's an issue with snowfall which only shows up above the character and when you look behind sometimes it doesn't appear, as in you can see snow in the front but not in the back.

    Floating

    Front "normal"

    Behind "no snow"

It appears to be caused by a change in elevation mostly. The snow animation will be caught at a prior level the character was at.

I want to use this but, every time I have it installed it makes the snow look like rain. I have tried playing with the load order, thinking it might be nuclear winter not playing well. But other people seem to be able to use them all in conjunction. I give up, and will just have to deal with having snow inside. Thanks for this, though.

certain ENB's do that, happened to me too i scrolled to RAIN section in ENB settings and either disable enb rain completely or check use original textures. That worked for me

Unfortunately, this patch does not work for me.
It is still snowing in the rooms. It limits itself over floor tiles that are two tiles away.
I should not build a room larger than 2x2 floor tiles so that it does not snow in them.

Sometimes occlusion happens without anything above players head and simply due to terrain level change or while looking in certain direction. I wonder if its vanilla occlusion being buggy or something else.

    @edit

Seems like its vanilla thing, similar problem occurs with heavy rain introduced by other weather mods. Some people recommended disabling wetness and it worked for me as well in some places but its still buggy in others.
