   What are the benefits to using this mod rather than accessing the function to alter/have infinite carry weight that is supplied by cheat terminal?

      Game Configuration Menu does this and a myriad of things more.
      Instead of having 30 different .ESL files making tiny changes such as this (changing sprint speed, jump height, carry weight, etc, etc) - just get 1 .ESL file which allows you to make all of those changes - and leave the ones you don't want to be bothered with at their defaults.  Done.

      player.modav carryweight 850 accomplishes the same thing without requiring a plugin at all...

      Was assuming this was for consoles because I use player.modav carryweight all the time for testing on the PC...

   never use enough picking up things it makes all heavy all the time why did you take too long to fix ? its always stopped working

   This isn't a fix. More like a cheat. Which is fine, but calling it a fix is inaccurate.
