All these years, I've waited for A. a lightweight alternative to GMOTW (FO2287) and B. A non-Frost dependent mod that added radiation to the whole map.
You actually made one, and somehow, it wasnt on my radar for over THREE YEARS??!
I dont know if you're still taking suggestions, but, I would LOVE if there was a version where the filters work in vanilla radiated areas, during radstorms, etc, without making the constant radiation in the overworld.
I tried testing just to see if it would "just work" without reading the perk mag, but alas, the filters dont give any additional protection without the perk mag being read. Since I spend so much time in the overworld questing, exploring, and settlement building, I would sure love to play with this without the ambient radiation.
Either way, heavily endorsed as is, this is awesome and I cant believe how underrated it is.
I assumed this mod cannot be installed Midgame because when I was outside, I make my way to the Mole Rat Den below Red Rocket Station. But even after i entered the Den, I still took the radiation damage, and proceed to grab the Magazine, the mask and filters, but still took radiation damage, the same happen when I exit the Den.
I tried to load the save file that didn't have this mod installed (with this mod also deactivated in my Mod manager), I still took the same radiation damage. So well, start a new game with this mod activated, and everything is normal. Clean air before I grab the magazine, and then irradiated air after I grab the magazine.
Quick note: there are exterior world records identical to masters including a car, a trash can, and some other records. I manually removed all. I did not clean the mod with FO4Edit.
this would be great if it could be set up to be only needed in the higher irradiated areas or during rad storms. that would make the gas masks useful in the game. i get were you was going with this and i dig it but it would make more sense gameplay wise if the gas mask was needed in areas like the glowing sea and far harbor or highly radioactive areas
I haven't installed this mod yet or looked at how it is implemented, but does anyone know if there is a way to attach poison damage to weathers? Radiation would have gone down to levels that are unlikely to be lethal in the short term by the time this game takes place, but I personally imagine that the nuclear strike was also combined with chemical attacks, so rain and fog would probably contain some amount of precipitated nerve gas. I don't think putting poison damage resist on gas masks would be all that hard, but I haven't looked at adding poison damage to the weathers. Admittedly I don't really have any reason to believe that chemical weapons would still be dangerous hundreds of years after being deployed, but I don't know enough about the topic for it to be super unbelievable for me, so it's easier for me to suspend my disbelief.
"Nukes went off......etc" Yeah.....two hundred and ten years ago. I think the radiation level around Boston would have dissipated considerably over that time.
gabe, the laws of physics themselves say that they dissapate the same as our own nukes. Radiation is basically caused by unstable elements tearing themselves apart, the more radioactive something is, the faster it tears itself apart, so that means there is an inverse relationship between radioactivity and the length of time during which it is actually dangerous.
First I'd like to say If there were MCM optional files, I'd like to see one where the radiation effects NPC's, and thus they must wear Gas Masks as well.
Secondly, I'd also very much appreciate a patch for NAC X, it's a remarkable mod with a large variety of dangerous weather types.
Third, I've said it already, but... Why not twice? A function similar to the Database feature found in FO-2287 GMWL would bring me immense joy.
Fourth, having some sort of optional toggleable HUD element like a filter durability/purity display would be the cherry on top.
Fifth, so much tidier than FO-2287 GMWL.
(Basically, I'm just asking you to rewrite FO-2287 GMWL with less over the top bullsh*t that barely anyone needs.)
Could you possibly add a Gas Mask database feature like GMWL? I'd IMMEDIATELY ditch GMWL for this if you did. Good GOD that mod is ancient and buggy as hell.
