    as much as some people hated the old condition system (it never really bothered me), it did a great job of making individual weapon/armor values scalable. under that system a mountain of damaged guns were worth about as much as one pristine gun. the next best solution would be to lower the encumbrance cap, but that would make scavenging for crafting materials much more tedious. OTOH, it might encourage players to rely on the bulk materials sold by merchants, which would provide another decent cap sink.
