So just to be super clear because I'm a dummy....the unlocked mod message doesn't display because when you install this you can no longer unlock mods? Not even the ones you could before or just the new ones?
Is there no way to fix that? I really like taking my time with the quest and being able to build robots by earning the pieces :D.
That mod has several issues and bugs, such as Assaultrons having no rear torso armors. It also adds in new weapons for robots, alters the paints for Mechanist robots and keeps vanilla loot tables despite the robots' new appearances. My mod uses only vanilla assets, makes it so you have a chance to loot any mod from a robot, properly levels with the player and doesn't have any weird bugs or glitches.
Personally speaking, you should probably include this in the mod description instead of having people (Like myself) search for this explanation in the comments.
MZO they did include that mod in their description, it's listed as incompatible :).
If you read the description the difference is also clear....the other mod adds new guns and stuff, this one just randomises the base game pieces. I do wish they made it more prominent about the crafting unlocks though.
I'm aware that this mod is focused on vanilla parts, but haven't you considered compatibility for randomizing the addition of parts from other mods like these?

I feel like these mods give more life to the automatrons, but I don't know how complicated it is 🤔
I would love to do it myself, but I don't know anything about mods and creating patches.😢
I've only run into rust devils once so far but their bots looked kinda wacky, with a hot pink mr handy that really stood out, so I'm very pleased with this mod already :)
Question though, I know this doesn't alter mechanist bots so this doesn't have to do with your mod; but would you happen to know why one would spawn with two bodies? it had a robobrain body with a thruster, but the odd part was the eyebot body following along with it in the ground. When I picked it up both the bodies banged against eachother rapidly as if they were magnetized, it was hilarious.
Honestly I wouldn't. I specifically chose not to incorporate them into this mod because they're factory-standard robots with nobody having ever changed them, so I didn't think randomization would make sense.
The optional file is a completely seperate addon that is not dependent on the main file. However, the optional file ONLY affects vanilla bots, so if you want randomized Automatron bots, you still need the main file.
